Oh, crazy realtives.

Oh, crazy realtives.

So, I have this uncle. I'm not especially close to him, but we do get a Christmas card or birthday cards from him on occasion, he showed up at my father's funeral, etc... So when I sent out the STDs a month or so ago, I asked my mom to give me his most recent address (he lives in California and relocates on a regular basis). They'd recently had (another) falling out and didn't have his most recent one. She asks my grandfather, I receive his address and send one out to him with all the rest.

Now, I don't hear a peep out of him (he has our number) or about him until this weekend when I went to a family reunion (that he didn't attend). My mother lets it slip that her brother remarked to my grandfather via a telephone call 'Oh, so I guess she's getting married. That's great.' But in an incredibly sarcastic tone. I didn't realize that he was unaware I was engaged when I sent them out. I was under the impression that my grandfather had already told him. Oops. Anyway, I laughed at that story. And that he's still so bitter over other people getting married (he was married once, got divorced and is still harboring MAJOR baggage).

I later laughed a little more when my grandfather told me that my uncle had called him demanding to know how I got his address. Now, to the best of my belief, the two of us were on good terms! I guess not? I told him he should have told my uncle that I entered his name in the FBI database and that's how I track him down.

That is so funny! But seriously, dont even let it get to you. The ppl that really care about you will be there and share in your happiness. We all have those crazy aunts/uncles/relatives. We can't chose our families!

We have to just laugh about these situations otherwise they'll drive us crazy! Happens in every family i'm sure.

I'm going to send him one anyway, if only to save my grandfather the hassle of listening to 'WHAT?! She didn't invite meeeeee?!' Because then he'll drag my mom into it, etc... If I send him one, he's absolutely going to cry foul regardless but then it should only be a brief, 'WHAT?! How dare she invite meeee?!' And that one should blow over more quickly.

I hope. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
