OH LORD . . .What Am I Gonna Do Now??

Although my fiance & I have been d ating for 3 years, most of our mutual friends that we know from college didn't know that we were d ating. So to hear about our engagement is a HUGE double whammy. Everyone is shocked and extremely happy for us at the same time.

Here's the problem . . .

I've recently created a wedding website. Someone must have sent out a huge mass mailing telling people to check out the website....and now people are basically inviting themselves to our wedding!!!!! We both consider a lot of these people to be good friends from a distance . . .but as most of you ladies know, you can't invite EVERYBODY to your wedding! Especially us....with me being in the entertainment and with him being 'BIG MAN ON CAMPUS', we know 7 million people combined. Our budget simply won't allow!


Does anyone have any advice?

It is nice that so many people are excited for you and want to be a part of your celebration.

It can be overwhelming...but know that most of us have had to make decisions on cutting guest lists and dealing with this issue. You will probably get a lot of support from this board.

You have quite a bit of time between now and your wedding. That can work to your advantage. Thank them for their good wishes and simply tell folks that you have not finalized your wedding plans. Take a breath and let the hype die down...it will eventually.

Since you are both high profile people, you might want to take down your web site and/or remove any wedding details from the site.

KarenG is right! First step, take down the website and details, and then let your closest friends know that is going to be a very private event. Last advice ... if possilbe get married during vacation time ... that also would help, since a lot of people has to go away to visit family, etc.
