if you remember my post yesterday where i mailed out our invites for our wedding. well i mailed us one as a keepsake, to save the envelope, etc.
when i went down to the post office, hand delivered them, asked them if they could hand-cancel them. the d-bag the took my box said 'no problem'...
i got my invite in the mail today, and the outer envelope was all smeared with black ink, i opened it up and the blue pocket fold was creased all over, and the little rhinestone was still in place, but on the other side where the pocket folds, there was a little hole/indent from where the rhinestone was smashed into it.
i'm so upset. my invites are destroyed. i worked so hard on them, i put so many hours into them. i made them myself and they were NOT hand cancelled. OBVIOUSLY. i want to call them and scream at them, not that it will do any good. i'm so sad now.

Oh my! I would be really upset. I am so sorry that that happened. I would call or go there and complain. But you're right, it probably wont do anything, but I would anyway. I got some back in the mail of people who moved, and they were bent too. But Mine didn't have rhinestones.

I used to work for the post office(unfortunatley)....I suggest the ladies who are sending the invites out in the future....ask to stamp them yourself. Sorry this happened but the people at the po can be retarded..(myself not included)

so sorry that s*cks. BUT just know that even if you hand cancel it you still are at risk of the invitation getting messed up. Hand canceling only avoids one machine but envelopes go through 2 machines and even with hand canceling it will go through the 2nd machine. Of course if you dont have rhinestones or anything similar on your invite, you should be ok but the rhinestone going through either machine can sometimes get ruined. Sorry, not sure if it helps that it could've still gotten ruined even if it was hand canceled. Hopefully most didn't get messed up, ask your friends

i didn't know that either! thanks, everybody is helping cheer me up. i know it's not the end of the world. but i wish i had known that. i hope other girls don't experience the total disappointment that comes with this experience for me. i'll definitely ask my friends and family. :o) thanks!!
