I get an email today from FMIL about Weight Watchers. She wanted to tell me she joined again and how she did this week, and wanted to know if I could pick up a food scale for her.

Great, right? But here's the big part..........she signed the email............

LOVE 'MOM'!

FH and I have been together over 9 years. We have been living together over 2. We've been engaged since December. I have ALWAYS called her Mrs. 'X'..........she FINALLY wants me to call her mom!!!!!!!

You guys really have no idea.

FBIL told me recently that she was talking to him about it and he told me that I would never call her by her first name (she's uber-formal like that). I was fine with that, but I would never take the initiative. Which apparently he told her, before even talking to me. He knew I would never ever do it on my own.

So now she's finally opened the door for me. I'm excited b/c FH has been calling my mother 'mom' for years now, and I never knew when or even if I'd get to that point with FMIL.

So now FH and I are hosting Mother's Day this year, with both mothers there. This is going to get confusing!

awe! That's a long time (at least to me). Maybe it just took her this long b/c she was scared of you calling her that. Good luck when you have to say 'mom' or 'dad' in person... I always choke.
