I noticed today that the diamond on my engagement ring is a bit loose! I can actually feel it moving (everrrr so slightly) when I touch it. I'm getting very nervous about getting it fixed, though-- I don't want to leave it at the jeweler's.
Has anyone had their stone tightened, and if so, did you wait while the jeweler fixed it? I pretty much refuse to leave my ring at the jeweler's... I'm SO paranoid!

I would NOT leave it. They should be able to tighten the prongs while you wait.

I would not let it out of my sight. One of my sidestones was set a lil uneven. Though it isnt loose, we still need to adjust it or at most, get a new setting. I will not, under ANY circumstances leave my stones with a jeweler. They either fix it in front of me or I take it to someone else

Mine was bought at Zales and I just had to bring it in for the warranty check up(it's every 6months)and they checked it and did everything right in front of FH. Dont leave it, JMO.

They should be able to do that in front of you with no problem. I would never leave it there.

Ok thanks girls, glad to see you are with me on this one... ... but what happens if the jeweler wants to fix it in the back of the store (out of the customer's sight)? Am I crazy for being paranoid about this-- I would want them to fix it in FRONT of me, while I'm watching.

Under no circumstances should you let your diamond out of your sight. If they want to fix it in the back than YOU go in the back too. I saw a special on this all it takes is less than 30 seconds for them to switch the diamond. Also, if it's loose, take it off now until you get it tightened. If you hit it the wrong way you could lose the stone.
