Oh no! Just got the new list of 'rules and regulations' for my church -

NO petals - only rice or birdseed allowed

NO AISLE RUNNERS
I was sooooo excited to make one - I'm seriously so upset over this. When I booked last year, I made sure to ask about the aisle runner, because its something i REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT - now I'm not allowed

I even bought all the supplies to make it - guess I'm doing AC Moore returns tomorrow.

AND- if you want flowers, you have to provide them. My wedding is the day after Thanksgiving, and when I booked, I was told that I don't have to worry about flowers, because the altar is still decorated for Thanksgiving.
NOW they're telling me that they take everything down for the wedding, so it'll be bare.

I don't understand this.

oh no! do you have any of the stuff they told you when you booked in writing? maybe you can get and ok under a grandfather clause?
hope they let you do things.. you booked based on things its not nice of them to change them on you half way through!

I'm not allowed to have petals or an aisle runner either. I just look at it this way - it is saving me some money!

That stinks!! It is so annoying when the church changes rules. When I asked about the rules for the church they ratlled off a list and then said, 'but this can all change by then...' CHANGE? How in the world is anyone supposed to plan??

I say do the petals anyway. Have the limo guy keep them in the limos until the very end of the ceremony and then have them take it out so the chruch does not see it before hand! As another bride said, what are they going to do at that point?

I mean, if the aisle runner is a safety issue like they say it is, then that's fine.

I knew about the petals/rice & aisle runner (b/c of my sister's weddign) but when I booked I was told we weren't ALLOWED to put flowers up on the altar b/c they used whatever is up there....???????

MANNNNN............I just booked my florist and I did not have altar flowers on there!! I had pew bows but that's it!

the one place you would think wouldnt be nasty to us(the church) and they are the worst people to deal with,

just do it

Fine me kick me out of the church i dont care i am doing the petals outside without telling them..

OK, I went there and questioned this - she said that she 'MADE A MISTAKE' with the altar info - she 'MEANT TO SAY' that the Thanksgiving decorations will be gone for my wedding - their altar decorations go Friday to Friday, but it will be a standard fall altar, with some mums. I didn't include church flowers in my florist budget either.....

We also CANNOT use tulle or ribbon to rope the front pews together 'due to risk management concerns'.

Only bubbles outside the church. Devon, is that what your sister used? I'm thinking of getting bubbles and bells.

Also, only 1 photog and 1 videog is allowed in the church....I'm having way more that that! How did your sisters wedding work that? I know you're both using Duet...

Can't change it - just hafta deal.

We are doing pew bows on every other pew (4 on each side), satin ribbon w/ roses. We aren't ropping off any pews. Most people would know not to sit in the first 3 rows.

My sister had 2 photographers & a vidoegrapher. weird that they're telling you 1 & 1......

She used bubbles and it looked AWESOME in pictures.

So sorry to hear your dealing with this garbage.
I would meet face to face and let them know that you completed the aisle runner and already signed the contract a didn't buget for the extra flowers as you were promised them. There fudging their statements so you might as well to keep in line with the initial agreement. FH and I were dealing with some of the same stupid sh*% from his church. We stopped by three times and were to. The receptionist said they had no priest on duty all three time (2 different ladies). I know that is not possible as my mom works for a church. During our appointment we waiting longer than when we dropped by. The priest had all these things the church wanted us to do and it just was sucking the joy out of our union. We said fu%# it and decided to marry at Jericho Terrace. Plus, a suggested denoation is the biggest crock and the most un-holly thing I've heard of.
