Oh NO!!!! My invitations are ruined!! Now what do I do???
OK, so I always said that I was gonna make my wedding invitations since I was a little kid. I m now wondering why I was so adamant about this!!! I printed out everything last week & was waiting on the direction cards to come in the mail so that I could assemble all of it & send them out. Well, I started assembling them & noticed that my fingertips had all of this black ink all over them! The invitations are fine, but the ink from the envelopes are completely smudging when you touch them!!! What should I do now??

I know it isn't the most attractive thing to do but maybe you can cover the ink with clear duck tape? Could make for a funny story...someday.

Yeah, FH said something like that yesterday about putting tape over it and I almost threw a chair at him!! But thanks for the advice, I'm sure I'd get alot of people talking if I taped the front addresses! Ahhh, why didn't I just order them through a company???

Can you re-print the envelopes? Maybe the ink wasn't dry yet? Maybe the paper on the envelopes was not porous enough?

some paper is not compatable for all priners (ink jet or laser jet) Is the paper used for a specific printer? Or maybe it just want not dry yet?

Nope, the ink had been dry for a week. I think the envelopes just didn't soak the ink in. The ink is just kind of sitting on top of it......... I am sooo stumped! I'm getting married in 67 days!!!!! And all of the invitations are sitting on my dining room table!

maybe you have to do new envelopes? that really blows. it could be the envelopes and the ink not working together...after a week, it shouldn't still be smudging.

what about putting clear LABELS over them? Or printing addresses on white or ivory labels to put OVER the ones that are smudging?
If worse comes to worse, can you order more envelopes and have a calligrapher do them?

If the ink didn't smudge on the envelopes just the labels got messed up, reprint them in a solid color (matching as closely to the envelope color as possible.) ANd put them over the smudged ones. No one has to know there are labels under those!!

I definitely agree with either putting clear labels over them, or reprinting the envelopes.

This happened to me with the save the dates and it really bothered me because not only did the labels with the address smudge, but the invites I ordered smudged on the inside too. There was nothing I could do, since I found out about it after i sent them out. I feel your pain on this and it really bothered me!

I did favor tags for someone and had the same problem. I would suggest that you take the envelopes and try one of two things:
1. Put white pieces of paper in between each envelope and then package them (tightly) in a large envelope or zip loc bag. Make several bundles and let them sit for a week.
2. Get out the hair dryer and heat over the ink. This should help set it in.
