It does sound like alot to me. However, to play devil's advocate- dont forget, there might be girls on here getting married at Oheka who are willing to pay that price. I'm sure (at least I'm hoping) that would you get what you pay for- over-the-top service and huge amounts of food!!

Dont forget- everyone has a different budget. I could NEVER in a million years afford someplace like Oheka or GCH. However, to the girls that can- I'm sure their weddings will be fabulous. (And of course the girls who cant like me, our's will be just as fabulous).

I would never pay that much for the site fee + pp because we are having a huge wedding, and for me personally, I want to put that money elsewhere. But that's just me, and everyone is different. But think of it like this: If someone is having a smaller wedding- say 100 people- @ the price of Oheka, they could easily come in paying the same amount overall (meaning everything put together) as someone having a 350 person wedding elsewhere.

that's insane... I was told the site fee was only $6,000 though...
FH's brother and sisterinlaw were married there 11½ years ago (one of the first weddings they did- i think the 3rd- or so I've been told)...
we recently found out how much they paid per person... with different things added... $100/pp... NO SITE FEE!
I thinks its ridiculous how much they are charging now...
granted I've never been there... but I can't imagine paying $11,000 for the location then over $200/pp BEFORE any extras and tax and tip...

I'm pretty sure some of the vineyards have site fees of more than $11K. It is still nuts though! To each his own!

There are people who live in Kansas who probably think NYer's are nuts to pay $20K+ for our weddings. It's all relative!!!

The entire concept of a wedding is ridiculuos.
The majority of us have shelled out over 40K on our weddings instead of saving or investing it (during a recession).
To each its own.

I find it insane when people spends hundreds of dollars on day of coordinators and engagement pics.

I agree, Oheka's prices are totally insane! I would never pay that much just to walk in the door someplace, but that is just me. I know my wedding will be fabulous without spending a ludicrous amount of money and I'm totally okay with not having a Platnium Wedding!
One of FH's friends is getting married there on New Years' Eve this year and I can't wait to see what it is like! I'm anxious to see how it will differ from mine.

Yes, the place is out of budget for the majority of us. But that is the point of having a venue like that - it is exclusive. Oheka sets the price for their services and it is their choice on what to charge. There are many people on Long Island with that kind of money to spend.

The place is amazing and if that is what someone chooses to spend on their wedding, we shouldn't judge and call them crazy and say it is ridiculous.

Also, a lot of people on this site are spending quite a bit on their weddings. If your budget is $30k or $60k what's $11k of it? It's all relative, in my opinion. If you spend that much on the place, maybe you don't spend as much on a band or a dress or a honeymoon, I think it depends how you budget. Some people are spending $9k on a band for 4hrs, I don't see how that's very different. Just my opinion, though and not trying to insult at all.

Well, I think the fee is !!!

But to each his own. I dont think anyone would get bent out of shape about this topic. It is what it right? The fee *IS* a lot. But some people can afford it, and G-d bless them!

The great news is we all have eachother to make our weddings great no matter where the budget falls. I have gotten SO many good ideas and advice from everyone. Im also enjoying reading about things I wont have at my wedding (card box, programs for example) and still getting ideas from THOSE ideas.

SO dont sweat the topic. No one is insulting Ladies getting married there. Just amazed at the price.

I went to a wedding at Oheka and while the grounds were gorgeous, the food was not very good. I would have been super bummed serving cold food to my guests at 200/pp.

But everyone has different priorities. Some people really love the setting of Oheka. To me, setting wasn't as important as the music/food.

I think that yes, its a lot of money, but obviously people want to spend it and I am sure they feel its well worth it.

Exactly my point. people reason differently. I know it wasn't necessarily the best way for us to spend our money, yet we did anyway - why? b.c we could.
The same way some brides were able to book Oheka - why? b.c they can.

ITA with Juhgail.... I didnt mean to offend anyone I was just surprised when my friend told me this and really didn't know a venue could cost so much!!! I also only heard of site fees for the ceremony so that was new to me too!
