I've been helping my cousin look at halls for her wedding and one of the places we looked at was Oheka Castle. to be honest, I was blown away. I never seriously considered it though because it's so expensive.
However, I was searching around on here today and saw some of the postings that the site fee and minimums are much lower on a Thursday night than a Saturday night. I never thought about having a Thurs night wedding, but I'm not totally ruling it out as a possibility now.
If you were a guest, would you want to go to a Thurs night wedding at Oheka or would you just think that the bride and groom were taking the cheap way out? I personally would love to go to a wedding at Oheka even if it was a Wednesday at noon but I think i'm just really biased. I don't want to be selfish though.
What do you think?

a girl at my hair place got married there on a thursday night. at first I was surprised, but then i thought wow pretty smart of her.
so i don't see a problem with it.

I don't know...it would depend. If it was local for us that I would definitely go, if it was a trip for us, we probably wouldn't be able to b/c we'd both have to take 2 days off work to go (thurs and fri).....so if you have a lot of OOT guests, I'm not sure. It really depends on your guest list I think!

i would go, but it depends on if you have OOT guests coming...certain people from OOT may not realize what Oheka is, and may not be able to get here and take off work on thurs.and fri for Thurs wedding.
if however, you get married in the evening and most of your guests are from LI...then why not? i would just give them notice ahead of time or send out STDs in advance so they save the date! people tend to be busy on weeknights

I say go for it!!! Its worth it to get married where you want and you wont be upset Oheka is a fabulous place to get married FM me if you have question!! Good Luck to you. I have to say I would definatly go to a close friends wedding any day. You may run into a problem with OOT guests.

FH and i were thinking of doing thursday July 3rd of this year b/c it would be cheaper and everyone has off the next b/c its 4th of July - also we got engaged on July 3 so it would have been on the 1yr anniversary of our engagement....we ended up decided against doing that because financially it was too much too soon and because July can be pretty hot and FH wanted a cold month - but if you can find a thursday like that i think its a great idea because than people dont have to take off work the next day...

we're getting married on the wed before thanksgiving....and everyone in our families were fine with it.
i would say look for a 'week day' that still seems like a friday...usually right before a holiday.

I'm going to say what I always say.....Anyone who really wants to be at your wedding to celebrate your love and wedding will make it no matter when or where it is. Whether it is down the block or far away or on a Saturday or a weekday night.
I went through the whole accommodating everyone phase too and then I realized we had to do what worked for us since we are paying.

If you send out a save the date- people who want to come will SAVE THE DATE. They'll take off of work and do whatever they have to do.

I guess I would go, but try to get Friday off from work......or at least try to leave work early on Thursday...i guess it depends on the guest. Im so tired by the time i come home from work, and then to go to a wedding would seem like a lot.

Honestly I think people in NY are starting to get used to the Thurs/Fri/Sun wedding thing. They know the prices are outrageous here. The OOTS might think it is weird but screw them! LOL!

I'm joining this a little late but you might want to consider the people that are really close to you and if they would be able to work around it. Even with getting a STD, people would probably have to take off work Thursday if they are planning on going to the ceremony and might have to take off Friday or leave the wedding early if they have to make it to work Friday. I'm an accountant and have tight deadlines so I can't always just take off even if I know about it well in advance. I def. think you should do whatever is right for you and FH, but its just something to consider.

IMO i love weddings and depending on the distance (if it was close) i would definitely go. Just remember there will always be at least one guest who has a problem with your wedding date no matter which day of the week it is or whichever date you may choose. Im getting married on a Saturday and it happens to be high school graduation for some districts so i had a few complaints. If your dream venue is within your range on a thursday night, i say go for it! Good luck and keep us updated!

Someone I know is planning a wedding this November at Oheka on a Monday during the day. She really wanted to have her wedding there and that was the way she could do it. Plus, the majority of her guests are coming from Greece. I'm with the other girls who said that if people know about it with enought time to plan, and want to be there, then they will regardless of the day or time I personally have never said I wouldnt attend an event b/c of the day of the week.

an LIW bride is getting married at oheka on thanksgiving eve so works out perfect bc it is a weekday but most ppl get out early that day plus they have off the next day.
