Has anyone had their wedding at or been to someone else's wedding there within the last year or so? I went to check out the venue last weekend, obviously it's gorgeous, but I heard a rumor from a friend that there have been some food disappointments? From what they charge pp plus the site fee, I can't imagine this, but as we all know price doesn't always dictate quality...

Re: OHEKA Reviews
I haven't been to a wedding there, but FH did plan my proposal there complete with overnight stay and surprise private dinner. FH does not have a very sophisticated palate (read:picky eater) so when he selected our menu, it wasn't anything super exciting... but I have to say the food was still superb. This was 2 years ago.
So I can't speak to when they cook for a lot of people but they cooked for us and it was amazing.

my parents have been to a lot of events there and a few weddings, and i always hear negative comments about food.. the place is amazing, though. i think the site fee is around $10,000 then it's $200pp and i'm estimating low.

Re: OHEKA Reviews
yea...when we went they gave us a small tasting plate which was a really classy touch, and the small tastings were good, but not extraordinary like work 200+ per plate...i mean i think about what restaurants would charge that per plate including alcohol and the caliber is impecable...no room for just ok....and that's what im hearing!...so disappointing because to spend that much on a wedding, it should be top notch, not just OK...

I've been to a wedding there about 6 years ago..Food was just ok the staff was rude they wouldn't let you go up to the bar to get a drink they told you to sit at the table and your server would bring it by. There was no server to be found. Very overpriced for what you get,.

My cousin was married there in November, day before thanksgiving. The grounds are beautiful and we had a great time at her wedding. Let's say platinum wedding, because it is expensive there.

My sister was married at Oheka, I cannot say enough amazing things about her wedding, from the staff being over the top extraordinary to the food surpassing all of our expectations. They did everything to make her wedding and the entire day an experience for not just my sis and her husband but for every single person that was there.

Re: OHEKA Reviews
it seems that the reviews were just as i expected...mixed...and as much as i loveeed and dreamed of getting married there, i'm not sure i'm ready to risk that amount of money for something i'm 'potentially' not going to be happy with...i come from a very 'foodie' family and my fiance's family as well...keep the reviews coming because i need to book my hall within the next few weeks!

Re: OHEKA Reviews
I went to a wedding there a year and a half ago and I will definitely agree that I wasn't blown away by the food. The cocktail hour was the usual wedding fare and dinner was just a choice of meat, chicken or fish. I went with the fish, had a huge bone in it and they gave me another portion which was literally 1/2 the size of my previous order. I don't know, if it was anywhere else it probably wouldn't even have fazed me but the fact that Oheka Castle is Oheka Castle I was way disappointed. IMO for the amount of money they charge you and your guests should be treated like the only wedding on earth.

I was at a wedding there a few years ago and I agree with many of the other reviews on here. I wasn't blown away by the food. It also had a colder atmosphere. I personally didn't like the fact that the cocktail hour was in a couple different rooms. Personally it wasn't my cup of tea, but that's just my opinion. It was a family affair and none of the family members at my table were blown away either.
This is only my opinion..

Royalton is really a lovely place. FSIL got married there last year and the food was great. I wanted to get married there originally, but my invite list is way too big.

I went to a showcase there . I wasn't blown away with the interior. The rooms are smaller and I thought it would be an awkward setup for a wedding. The out side and gardens are awesome.

I've heard great things about the Royalton. A friends brother got married there in June and she said it was fabulous!
Good luck!

I was a server there once. You're not allowed to go to the bar. It has to be served to you on a silver tray by the waitstaff. I love, love, love this place and would get married there if I could. I never tasted the food except what was cooked for the staff (which is burgers and stuff). The presentation isn't anything different from another catering hall.
