I have been speaking to GREAT photographers in Ohio. they have offered me a good deal on photography. however, i am concerned that it might be difficult to have photographers who are so far away. they have offered me everything that i would get with a NY photographer, but i just like their photos better.
what are your thoughts? am i making a mistake going with out of town photographers?

you could be asking for trouble, not to mention paying for their travel. have you seen any NY photographers' work that you like yet?

They actually quoted me a price that included travel and expenses - for some reason they really want to photograph weddings in NY. I did find a photographer in NY that i really like, i just like the Ohio ones more! i am just scared to book them being that they are so far away and i don't know what to do! the Ohio photogs and the NY photogs offer the same package for the same price!

have you looked at other ny photographers before really deciding? might want to do that. I know alot of ppl who plan weddings and go with alot of local ones and just what their friends use. Those of us who come on LIW have found our photographers only after coming on this site and hiring photographers we wouldve otherwise never heard of until we came on here. I wouldve probably never found my photographer unless i was on LIW. There are TONS of talented ny photographers so maybe look at that before you come to a decision. We can even help you with suggestions such as if you want traditional or photojournalistic photographers and we'll give you names to check out their sites.
ALso what about e-pics? im guessing you wouldnt be able to do that with the ohio photographers, thats if its important to you or not, if its not then it'd be fine.

If you love them and cant really find a local photographer that you love why not? I would definitely keep looking in NY just b/c I would feel more comfortable...but if you love them go for it. I have heard of photographers traveling from state to state for weddings before-even going to different countries to photograph weddings. I would ask them if they have ever done it before.

Do you live in Ohio? I am trying to think of post wedding things...like when you want to pick up your proofs or meet to select album pics, pick up your album, etc...if you live in Ohio then why not use an Ohio photographer because then they will be local....there are also many amazing NY photographers too...i based my decision on who would give me the photos I always dreamed of...they are not something that can be redone...HTH!

its true, many do travel...my photographer is in NY but she travels to florida and other locations for weddings.
