Oh...My... GOD!! (Long)

I just had it out with my former boss and her HUSBAND!! I am still shaking and its been a half hour since I got off the phone with them. I used to work for a company here in the SF Bay area that provided dance and parent and child classes at various community centers. I went from community center to community center teaching and then my checks would get sent in the mail. Well, its been 10 days since my hours were turned in and I still haven't received my check!! I've had problems before with my boss not sending checks, or the checks having insufficient funds. Its been BS. Thats why I finally quit. I loved what I was doing but enough was enough.
I called saying I didn't get the check and that she was in violation of the California Labor Code. She freaked out saying that I was threatening her and that she sent the check out on Monday (a holiday mind you) and that I should've gotten it. Well, I havent and I have bills to pay! Her husband got on the phone and started screaming, 'Use your brain!! Hello, Use your head!! We don't control the mail!!'. I just kept repeating to him, 'Sir? Excuse me, Sir?'. It was so ridiculous.
I told her that I needed a hand written check tonight because we're going out of town tomorrow and that my rent is already late. (Its not. FI and I live together and he payed it but thats besides the point). I told her that I'm trying to save for a wedding and I don't need to be paying late charges because her checks are always late. She made a big deal about having to write out a check and she said she was going to charge me!!!!
Okay, I have to stop no because I am fuming. I'm sure I'll vent more later. Thanks!!

If it makes you feel better this once happened to me.. I showed up and demanded my check..

They called the cops on me for tresspassing.. then the cops found out why I was there.. (this was texas) and the cops then became on my side.. said 'write her the check' .. something about services rendered.. hehe

that's so inconsiderate of them...and rude! there was no way fro you to pick up your check? Well thats in the past now - I hope you get the $ soon!

That is not cool. They expect your services and for you to arrive on time, then they should do the same in return and pay you in a timely manner.

You did the right thing and that is unprofessional of them to get rude 'use your brain' you are simply bringing it to their attention and requesting payment today.

Maybe they are having problems financially and blew up at you???

It is unbelievable what some people try to pull. It is good that you called them on it. As much as they yell, at least they know you caught them at their game.
