OK, 2 dog owners....like I don't have enough going on in my life...

We are thinking of getting a 2nd dog, a small dog this time. Are we nuts? We have Casey and the 2 lard a$$ cats

The cats are pretty independent, I just refill the food and water and change the littler.

If you have 2 dogs, esp a small and a large one, what has your experience been?

I always tell people to just keep in mind the costs of an additional animal: yearly vaccines (well, when they are puppies they get a series within several months), annual check ups, flee/heartworm prevention (sentinel).

Don't get me wrong, I love animals, I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 iguana, 1 canary, 1 African Grey Parrot, 8 gouldian finches, and 2 owl finches.

I don't think you are crazy for wanting another dog, but remember, it's also starting over with training a puppy...if you are ok with all the above, then go for it, and be sure to post pics!

So far the only issue I have encountered is sharing. My two are like kids. They fight over toys, food, attention. It's kind of funny.

So do I, but Brownie is still a puppy in most definitions of the word, so maybe when she gets older, and she's also terrified of other dogs, so not so sure how that is going to work out....

We've been pretty lucky ... I mean they are like kids in the sense of trying to be the center of attention but no other issues (food, behavior) ...

I would never discourage you but maybe wait out Casey's puppy-ness a little longer?
