I work on saturdays - I supervise an all day social skills program. There are 3 directors - 1 man, and 2 women.
The man - lets say Joe, was the director at another program I worked in since October of 2004.
In April of 2005, I left to join another program with 2 other women (both older, married) - and asked him to join along.
Now I'm inviting all of them to the wedding - I want to invite Joe and his Girlfriend, since we have known them a while and have hung out socially a great deal, but the 2 women I want to invite as singles. I never met their husbands, I am inviting them because we work together and i like them, but I am not sure we will ever be friends after we are done with this program, but I feel we always will with Joe and his GF.
When I asked 1 woman to email me with her address, she emailed both her and her husband's name. I only gave my dad her name alone to send the invite too...
So, my question is:
what if she RSVP's 2 people How will she feel if I let joe bring his GF (who we are friends with) but tell her she can't bring her husband?
does that make sense???

Re: OK - a spinoff to 'But she's not invited...'
Hey guys - wow - what controversy, huh???
First of all - I'm inviting the spouses of the couples I initially asked about because they won't know as many people as or full time coworkers will
As for the coworkers we work daily with, we told them we'd have to invite them solo and they are fine with it. FH's boss is being invited with his wife, but all my coworkers are invited by themselves. Married or not.
My coworker told me she's glad I'm doing it because she's going to have to do it when she gets married. Guess what? I'm going without FH. And I still feel our mariage will be respected - I don't base the respect of our marriage on that - I really would be fine if it were the other way around, if I never met the person... Plus, all my coworkers will sit together, chat, drink, shmooze, and have a great time... Same with FH's. It's just what it is...
I could have sworn I heard more solo invites out here on LIW - but I must be going loopy...
Oh well - thanks for your honesty ladies! Hopefully I'll have people who don't hate me after the wedding!!!

I concur with everyone else-- you cannot invite someone who is married without their spouse. Think about if you were in their shoes-- and how you would feel if you FH was not invited.
I stated in the other post - honestly, I'd be fine with it. I just don't get bothered by things like that... is that strange?
i would have to say that you may be the exception to the rule. have to agree with the other ladies. probably would just invite them w/their husbands. as an older woman, who is married, i definetely wouldn't want to attend a wedding by myself of a co-worker that i'm not incredibly close to. JMHO

I'm going to give you the same advice my brother gave me on a similar issue yesterday - It's YOUR wedding, YOUR day, YOUR rules. If someone is not happy with your choice of how to host your wedding, they can either get over it or stay home.
That may sound harsh, but we all have our own circumstances. If you are inviting other co-workers without spouses due to a space issue, then explain that to her and ask her to understand.
If she doesn't that is her loss...
