I have not reached that level of addiction yet.

If you worked at my job... you wouldn't have this option. I automatically set everyone's home page to the company intranet site. If you try to change this yourself... it automatically changes back in about 60 minutes.

nope.
But it's only a quick drop list away.
I don't even have it as a favorite.

Don't know why.

Just never took the time to set it up. Besides I'm not on it enough at home and at work it's not a good idea to set it up as a favorite or home page

LOL... no scripts. And believe me... if you figured out a way to break it... you could have my job.

The only way breaking this at my job... is to get on my good side and I make an exception. Right now the only two exceptions to the rule is my boss and my boss's boss (the CFO). Even I go by the rules... company intranet site is my homepage.

Its called Group Policy. Ask anyone that knows computers and they may know what it is.

So it's a Windows thing...

I'm in technology as well, but not a Sys Admin

Yes... its a windows server thing actually. You would only know of it if you are sys admin... and usually a high end sys admin. The help desk guys or junior guys wouldn't be working on this.

I can do a lot with Group Policy. I can assign a default webpage. I can assign a default WALLPAPER (no more wallpaper of your pretty kitty). I can turn off anything on the start menu. I can remove the run menu option. I can set your desktop icons. I can prevent you from adding anything. I can prevent you from installing anything (how many people use AIM at work). Wouldn't be able to even install it on my network if I turned that option on.

There is so much I can do... but right now I have it set pretty lienient. I do have the default webpage sent to the company intranet website cause it was just built and we are trying to push people to use it.

They did this at my office. I renamed the 'Default'

I prefer a black wallpaper.

I had IT come by. guy laughed his butt off. most IT folks like my computer. Nothing fancy, no shortcuts, no billion icons on my desktop, my keyboard never comes out from under my desk and I know most of the key commands better than 'window' mouse options. So using PCanywhere is a breeze for them.

Still I work off a token ring!!!!!
Can't wait till we move next week!

ETA: someone found out about my wallpaper and conned a stupid IT guy into setting there's to something stupid. So now it tries to default back and start up. Mostly I can change it back and it stays for a few days or couple of weeks but sooner or later it defaults back to our standard wallpaper. How annoying!
