It's a mutual feeling, but my father's worried that it'll look bad to everyone else if he doesn't dance with me, and my FI and his mom does? My FH was thinking that he not dance with his mom and let me and my dad dance! We are kind of in the same boat. His mom is older than my parents so we don't even know if she is capable of doing so. You could always do something else besides the dance. Dedicate something to your dad or give him something. Ultimately it is what ever makes you and your dad comfortable.
It will not look bad or that you hate each other or anything like that. It would look worse if you were both very uncomfortable on the dance floor.
