Ok.. Fear is settling in.. No one's coming to my wedding.

Jim's mother just said most of her friend won't come because we're getting married in Long Island (traditionally we should be having our reception in a resturant in Chinatown).

My father and I KNOW that NONE of my family is going to make it (too far).

With those we feel will make it..we are still less than 50..

I wanted a small wedding that's fine and I don't care about the cost factor of 'having' to pay for 100 minium, Jim and I don't factor our hall as a per person but rather the whole hall cost. Still, I wanted at LEAST 75. This is gonna be such a sad turn out!

I am so sorry to hear this. It's still early maybe people will get past not following the tradition and come to share your day.

I'll come I wouldn't worry so much about it. I think that you will be surprised as to how many will make the 'trek'.

I think that your MIL's friends should break tradition this one time for her. I mean what's more important, a tradition or friendship and being there to help celebrate the union of your love?

How does MIL feel about you guys not having it in Chinatown? If she's all for you guys having it on LI then maybe she can convince her friend to come anyway. Can you provide a bus so they don't have to drive in or take a train? (I'm assuming her friends live in Chinatown).

Well, once I get my invitation, I'll RSVP - till then, you'll just have to wait and see whether I'll be there. You know, I might be too tired from my honeymoon or something.

Seriously though, you know if you're worried about spending the money only to have it go to waste, you know there are some brides here who would love to help you out and make your wedding all you imagined it to be. I'm sure you can fill a table or two with LIW brides that you've met, if all else fails.

Dont worry. I invited 105 and only got 83 yes's so I feel like like that too. I wanted a few more people. It will still be beautiful!

It's not the money. I just want it to be a fun time. I'll have fun if others are.

I am having the same fears right now!!! A lot of the people we are inviting are not the most reliable type people to say the very least!! I can understand where you are coming from!! What helps me is really thinking about how happy I will be on my wedding day. In that way, will I really care? I also agree that even though there may be some disappointing no-shows, there are also the people that show up and surprise you. It really tends to work both ways!!

focus on your happy day, and remember you can create a b list if you really want to! PS ypu can have some of the people i over invited!

Many of us have the same concerns - I know I do. Two people I really wanted to be there - and five months ago told me they wouldn't miss it for the world - are going to miss it.

There is a train station right near your reception location. Maybe if the family knows they can just take a train they'll be more likely to come. No matter what happens, it's still your wedding day and you will have a great time.

Remember, you can always invite all of us - we'll be happy to be there!

The turnout won't be sad, the people that didn't come are sad. You are their FAMILY and they can't travel to Nassau for a wedding to celebrate- that's sad.

Look, people say things for other people all the time, but you really won't know until you get the responses. People LOVE weddings! Send out your Save-the-Dates with train information and maybe consider a shuttle bus/van from the train station to the hall. But people come from all over for a wedding - internationally. How are they not gonna come to LI?

It's too far in advance to worry about this. I was fretting over my guest list being to large, but now I'm just like - screw it. Really, just whatever. What happens happens, and the people who make it you know really care about the two of you.

I understand, believe me! But you never know , people might turn out... but I understand why you are so down about it

I also worry that we won't have enough people at the wedding .. we have a 75 person minimum, and just after sending out our 'save the dates' a few people have told us that they cannot make it!

I feel a little bad also, while I DID want a small wedding I still would like at least 75 there!

As the other girls said, I'd definitely be there!!!
