My invitation lady says that on my wedding invitations the year is spelled:
Saturday, the first of September TWO THOUSAND SEVEN (No 'AND') *She says 'and' is already in the word thousAND*
However, I have seen on etiquette websites/books...that it is:
TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN (With the 'AND')
Well, which is it???? With or without the 'AND'
Please help me...I would like the proper way!! Thank you!

I don't think either is wrong.
I've seen both.
Mine do read TWO THOUSAND SEVEN. I've seen it this way a lot.

Re: Ok Girls! I have an annoying questions~~
This was a hignly debated topic among the '06ers (and I imagine all the other brides that were married after 2000). We did not use the 'and' because according to DH if you say two-thousand and six it is written as 2000.6 - with the 'and' representing the period, but if you say two-thousand six it is written as 2006. Can you tell my DH was a math major???

Re: Ok Girls! I have an annoying questions~~
There really should not be an 'and'
when you say 'and' you are really saying in mathmatical terms 2000.7

I think technically it should be two thousand seven (that's how you'd write it out correctly from a math standpoint). However, either way is just fine for invitations. I don't even know if mine will have an 'and' or not - I guess I'll just see how it all fits with the layout.
No one will notice either way.

To be honest with you I have no idea how we worded it on my invitation. Now I wonder. But I think that either way gets the point across. So I would say, do what you and FH want to do!

Re: Ok Girls! I have an annoying questions~~
Hmmm when i first read the post I thought 'and' should be in there...BUt then I thought about it, we dont usually say 'and', like if someone asks you 'when is your wedding' you dont say for example May 17, two thousand and eight. I say May 17, two thousand eight. Or just when we say the year in general, we normally do not use the 'and'...Also the mathematical points others brought up make a good point.
I'll be honest with you, Nobody is even going to notice...When I obsessed about every little thing on my e-party invites, EVERYONE i know said, NOBODY NOTICES!!! they read it to see where and when and basically that is it...They wont sit there to see if you have written and or not after the 'two thousand' part, honestly i wouldn't even really pay attention to that...After this post I might lol

Re: Ok Girls! I have an annoying questions~~
mine says AND...I don't think either are wrong, but I do think that her logic in saying that the 'and' is included in 'Thousand' is kind of silly.

When I write out my bills I wrote Two Thousand and Twelve Dollars. I never thought about not putting an AND.

I was thinking the same thing - what did I do? I'll have to dig up my invite from wherever it is....

Mine has two thousand AND seven. I wouldnt leave the 'and' out...I know its not mathematically correct, but grammar is different than math. The 'and' should be there. It will look weird without it.

Exactly right!!!!!! Think about the year 1999. It was written Nineteen Hundred Ninety Nine. You never saw it as Nineteen Hundred AND Ninety Nine.
