I've had a problem with being called Kathy since I was ummm BORN.
So, the lady (not my BM but her asst that handles all the paperwork & Day to day duties) from my RH keeps calling me Kathy. I've explicitly asked her twice to cut it out, and she apologizes each time...
Today I get a copy of some paperwork from them and guess what? Its addressed to Kathy. It was like someone instantly took my blood pressure through the roof.
So my thing here is, WHAT doesn't she get? And why do people call people by nicknames that they request to not be called? And lastly, HOW do I get her to stop?
My FH thinks i'm insane but I'm like, thats because its not her calling you MIKEY! And sorry to any Kathys out there, its just not my name. I do accept Kat and actually prefer it.

sorry hon, some people just dont care.....and shes in the wrong business if she doesnt get that shes supposed to kiss you AZZZ!!!! what a jerkwad...........could someone have put your name into the system as Kathy and thats why she keeps calling you that? b/c shes reading it off the computer screen???
hey maybe you can use it to your advantage and get something for free out of the RH!

I know how you feel...everyone calls me Sam regardless of the fact that I introduce myself as Samantha. People just do not get it!!!!

Whoops, I may have read this wrong. Is your name Kathy and you hate it? Or is your name Kitty and she keep mistakenly calling you Kathy??? If the later is the case, I would be pissed!

That would make me nuts!!!!! I hate when people call me by anything other than my proper name. My chat name is geegee because FH used to to call me 'Gee' a lot and I wouldn't answer. So, he'd be say 'gee, gee'
It now has become a private joke between the two of us, but he knows that if he calls me that seriously, he may get hit.

I totally understand how you feel! People do it to me all the time with my name and there is one nickname I really dont like, but people use them anyway... my MOH does it to me alllllllllll the time! I would put a HUGE red mark through Kathy and write your name above it and send it back to her.

All the Katherines I know go by Katie now, not Kathy. And I totally agree with you people who call me 'Nat' without my permission make me sooooo angry!!!!

Ive never had a problem with what ppl call me, i just say ok call me whatever you want lol. My family all call me Denisa bc well thats my actual name lol and some friends do and sometimes DH does. THen of course most of my friends and just about everybody else say Denise too which i am used to and i spell it this way now too bc i have since i was a kid, when youre a young kid you dont care to be different lol. But alot of people also call me Dee, Nisey, Nise or whatever they want lol
Dh on the other hand hates being called Joseph which is his name lol or Joey, he likes being called Joe or alot of people just call him Espo, he likes that too. Its funny but for years I had no idea what his name was, i just knew him as Espo from the neighborhood

I work in sales, so I always call people by their formal name until directed otherwise. But I sign my emails, 'kat'

I always use formal names.... I even call my FH Michael... not mike or mikey like everyone in his family does.... so ....If you signed your emails 'Kat' then I would take it as I can call you that.

That's when I call them by the wrong name. It usually works. I keep saying it over and over again until they get it. Sometimes they'll say 'My name is XXX', and I'll say something like 'Well, I just introduced myself as Suzanne, so I just figured you were playing some sort of game.'
Yes, I can be unpleasant.
However, there is no excuse when it is someone you are working with professionally. Hey, for the thousands of dollars you are giving your RH, you'd think that would buy them learning your name.

You should not have to tell someone more that once what your correct name is. I feel you though, I've been called Jennifer more timess than I can count and it's so annoying....I say give it one more try, maybe in writing, in BIG BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS, maybe she'll get the hint

I went through one period of my life when everyone called me Shell, and unfortunately FH was a part of that. I don't mind my college friends doing it because I don't see them often, but I see him every day so I need to break him of it. Shell I can handle though, if someone tries to call me Mich, Michy, Mickey, Shelley... I don't answer.
His mom gets mad if people call him Jay and not Jason. She wanted her sons to have no nicknames so she named them Jason - Jay, Jase Jonathan - Jon and Justin - Just
They all have nicknames, it drivers her crazy!

I think you are totally justified. I'm Kathleen but go by Katie or Kate which somehow has translated into Kathy for EVERYONE! I constantly correct. (I just never liked being called that - its not my name)
Def red mark it - rewrite name and send it back to her!

I'm sorry Thats really annoying! I'm glad my names Gail and theres no way to shorten that. But........some people try to lengthen it and want to know if my name is Abigail which it is not.

My mom has that problem because her name is legally Kathy and everyone writes Kathryn or Kathleen.
