Re: ok has anyone else had this problem??
Is she paying for it? Have you talked to her about your disappointment with hardly being involved with your own wedding planning?
It's extremely unusual IMO for a mother to plan her daughter's wedding in this day and age. Talk to your FH. Then talk to your mother if it's important to you. I think you'll regret it otherwise.

Re: ok has anyone else had this problem??
my mom is pretty much planning our wedding (she is also paying). We didn't want a big wedding at all, so she is doing most of it. We did get to have a say in picking the RH and stuff, but overall its really not the wedding we envisioned.
I know I've told my mom how I feel, but she got so upset every time I mentioned not having the big wedding with all friends/family, so I decided that her feelings were way more important than putting up a fight. Just be honest with your mom, you might be surprised!

my mom is not the issue- its FMIL. I let her voice her opinion, say 'okay', and then continue on how I was planning on doing it...is that something you could do too?

..... well sorry to say this but YOU NEED TO STEP UP AND TELL HER THAT.... This is UR wedding.. NOT HERS.... My mom is helping me pay for half of what we spending but she is not planning my wedding...

Re: ok has anyone else had this problem??
sounds like the type of person you have to let her know in a diff way.... If you make it a big deal she will hear you.
first say, 'we need to talk can i come over'
then go over and spill, this way she will be like wow, she is serious. I had to do this, after making many hints and comments, this is the only thing that sunk in
Dont let her choose your day, whether she is paying or not

I kinda agree. I mean if she is paying, you should maybe listen to what we has to suggest but her word shouldn't be final. This is you and your FH's wedding... not your parents, not his parents, not any family other family memeber... yours. You two should be making the decisions.

I'm sorry, that's really rough :(
I have the opposite problem. I would love to have my mother more involved but she's just been too busy. It would be nice to have a little bit of her help!
