OK How do say no politely?

Dilemma - I sent out my STD's last weekend well the phone has been ringing off the hook daily....relatives, long lost relatives want to attend my wedding our guest list is done...I'm starting to freak, I cannot say no, what am I going to do? So far we have been telling people we will add them as we receive regrets is that fair or polite to say? I'm not trying to offend someone or double my list.....

Saying you will add as you receive regrets is perfectly fine to someone that is calling up and asking to come to your wedding!!!

Exactly!

THere really is no politically correct way on the flip people shoud not ask for you to send them an invite.

people have some nerve...everyone wants to be your 'best friend' once you get married... expln you are on a budget and will invite everyone that you can...

It depends on how close of a relative..obviously not too close since they were not on the orginal list so I would say what the ladies suggested is fair

I have never heard of people inviting themselves to a wedding...so weird!

'we're keeping it small and we haven't finalized the guest list yet'

or

'our families are large and we haven't finalized the guest list yet'

This is an excellent way of saying and not hurting anyone's feelings.

no no no....these people are relatives, you know the old ones with their grown kids like you're distant cousins you haven't seen in ages (and barely know) or the cousins grown kids....etc they're driving me nuts!

Tell them it is a small, intimate affair but you are greatful for their well wishes.

Ha!! They are rude to call and ask to be invited, so....

How did they know? Word of mouth passed that fast? I would simply say 'thanks for the well wishes, but we dont have a guest list yet'. I have never heard of people inviting themselves and more then one at that...

Definately don't increase the guest list unless it's someone you really want there.

Prior to sending invites we had some people tell us they were looking forward to our wedding and since they were out of town we hadn't thought to include them. We did, and then they ended up RSVP'ing NO

On the flip side, we did have a few that surprised us by wanting to come, and did show up. In particular, a cousin of DH's that he was close to when they were kids but lost contact with when he moved to Baltimore.

Just tell them you're flattered by how many family members have told you they want to attend the wedding, and how you're going to include as many as possible but your guest list is small.
