Ok I am a nerd, but I'm so excited about this upcoming special on TV
'The Brady Bunch' Clan Reunites!
August 9, 2004
Thirty-five years to the minute that the popular 'The Brady Bunch' premiered, TV Land flashes back to the very first episode in which Mike (ROBERT REED) and Carol (FLORENCE HENDERSON) got married and combined their families.
On tonight's ET, we are backstage with the Brady kids -- BARRY WILLIAMS, CHRISTOPHER KNIGHT, MIKE LOOKINLAND, MAUREEN McCORMICK, EVE PLUMB and SUSAN OLSEN -- as they come together to reminisce, laugh and tell tales of life on the set for 'Still Brady After All These Years.'
The special will air as part of a 48-hour marathon and feature rarely seen, behind-the-scenes footage, some of the most memorable moments from the series plus reveal the cast's favorite episodes.
'When we did the show, I think we all really loved doing it,' Maureen, who has been focusing on her family for the past two years, tells ET. 'We all really did become a family, but I had absolutely no idea that the show would last really even past the pilot. And actually, when it was on, to me, it never really seemed that popular, and it kind of has grown as time has gone by and it's strange.'
That said, the six Brady kids had little way of knowing that growing up Brady would affect the rest of their lives.
'You can't outdistance it,' says Chris, who has worked in the high-tech field as an entrepreneur for the past 20 years. 'It's everywhere. We're not really just entertainment anymore. We're sort of cultural icons. It's odd even to use that word, because what really is an icon? Aren't you supposed to be dead to be an icon?'
And Barry adds, 'I think also the perception of the show has changed over the years. There was a while when it wasn't cool to be a Brady. It was too idealistic. It was too sugar-coated. With the passage of time, it has emerged into classic television. Then it became kind of fun and interesting and 'Saturday Night Live' was making fun of it.
'The Brady Bunch' marathon begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, and runs non-stop through 6 a.m., Monday, Sept. 27. 'Still Brady After All These Years' premieres on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 10 p.m., on TV Land.
