its dumb especially cause i'm married already!

Usually the bride sits on the groom's side and the groom sits on the bride's side. So you're both closer to your new family, it's like a way of 'officially merging' the 2 families.

Edited for poor diagram:
Bride's Family---Groom/Bride---Groom's Family

groom sits on the side closer to his family. bride sits on the side closer to her family [the entrance of the rm]

the RH never explained that to you?

ummmm...the brides family has to sit near the entrance of the room?

What's that all about?

We didn't even think about this. We just sat the same way we do when we cuddle on the couch.

No, of course not. You can sit however you want!

Us too! We each have 'sides.' We also mixed up the room and had both of our families on each side.

see that's what i thought! but above, Cindy said it was opposite. i'm so confused! its not like it matters to me anyways since i'm already married!!!!

come to think of it, my maitre'd did walk me to our table and pull out my chair (which was on my family's side of the room).

Re: Ok, i have a dumba$$ question...

I just did some searching online and every site says the bride sits to the groom's right.

Of course, it doesn't really matter. There's no 'right or wrong' way to sit at your own wedding reception. 'Heck, I'm paying for it, I'll sit wherever I damn well please!!!'

ETA: I just found this and had to share!!

For a quick reminder: After you are married, it's 'Whitey Righty' ….the bride (whitey) is on the right. This will hold true for the recession after the ceremony, the receiving line, the introduction of the bridal party, and when you are seated for dinner.

I think this is an example of brides thinking way too much. You have soooooo much more to worry about than where you sit at the sweetheart table!

It's just two of you - sit wherever you want!
