Ok, I have looked at every dress online possible...

Original post by itslaurie.

... and I cannot find anything I am interested in (that I can afford). Like, at all - not even close. I have been through all the usual suspects and some unusual ones and nada, zip, zero, bupkiss. Magazine, catalogs, websites, etc.

Is that normal? What am I missing? Do I need to stop whining because this happens to everyone? Or should I be alarmed?

These are all rhetorical questions obviously, and I am really whiny today - my apologies. I think my main problem is that I need a haircut and I feel guilty about spending the money, but really... it looks tore up. Everyone gets to have their venting/whiny posts, right? Here's mine.

the end.

I felt the same exact way. I looked through thousands of dresses online and in magazines and found only ONE that I would even consider. I went to Kleinfelds, tried it on and I just didn't get that feeling that I HAD to have that dress. Then, I started considering other dresses that I had seen online. Well, I would call up the store that carried the designer and sure, they had SOME dresses from the designer but not the ones I was interested in!!!
That happened with about 7 dresses. I was so upset and losing hope. Finally I went to an Alvina Valenta trunk show knowing that all the dresses from the fall 2005 line would be there and I found the dress of my dreams. The funny thing is that it's COMPLETE opposite from the first dress I tried on in Kleinfelds. You really have to try them on to know. You will know when it's the one for you. I promise.

Seriously the dress that I bought was NOT anything like I thought I would get. First off, I wanted poofy and tulle. I was also thinking I wanted thick straps. I ended up getting strapless (with beaded spaghetti straps) and A-line. So you totally have to go try things on and see what actually works with your body type.

I 'believe' I have picked my dress, but I know myself, I'll probably end up with something totally different, but similar, if that makes sense

Take a deep breath, call your bestfriend who will be honest with you and go dress shopping have a great time and don't stress if you don't find it on your first trip, remember there is 'the dress' out there for everyone, and if you can't afford it, 're-create' it.

Good luck!!!!
