My RSVP date passed on 9/1 and I gave everyone (8 people) an extra week to respond. Of course the 8 people are on my FIL's side (figures), so I asked them if they could please call them (its their friends) and find out whats going on coming or not? They told me to just 'figure them in'. I explained that it would cost me a lot of money (they arent paying) and I cant afford to just 'figure them in and get stuck with 8 meals. My FI says if we get stuck we will just give the meals to his parents to take home (I will be d**** if they take home food when they havent paid for a dime). I know this sounds awful but I cant wait for the wedding to be over, had I known his family would have acted the way they have for the past year, I would have eloped. His daughter is the only one who gave us any support (emotionally) and she is only 10 1/2.

Re: OK, I have to vent... (sorry, sorta long)
That's pretty obnoxious of them. I guess if you want to get an actual headcount, you'll need to call the 8 people yourself, which is annoying because they're your in-law's guests, not yours. Good luck

Wow, that is pretty obnoxious.
Not only will 8 guests cost you a tremendous amoiunt of extra $$, but won't it screw up your table setting/placement????
Tell FIL's that the Hall will not 'make 8 extra meals to go' if they do not show up, and get the BM to agree on this.
I know they should do it, but can you get the phone numbers from your FILs & call them or ask FH to call?
Not that this helps you feel better, but I beleive etiquette would dictate that you do NOT figure in someone who has not yet responded.

'Just figure them in'?????
Tell them you'd be happy to just as soon as they fork over the $800 that it will cost you to 'figure them in'... other wise you'll be just as happy to count them OUT.
