OK I need a sounding board-long

OK I need a sounding board-long

...here comes another Ziggy cloud courtesy of me...

Rob & I made our decision- based on many factors that now we are putting Julianne in full time daycare ( maybe I will keep her home 1 day a week if my boss allows me to work from home that day)
again it is based on various factors:
- I'm 'forced' to come back in to the city Full time,
- I need a reliable system of more than 1 person watching J (scheduling hell if the nanny calls in sick!)
- it's a great center, good reputation, 3 to one ratio for her age grp, great socialization, and good for us to meet new people too

today is the nanny's last day. I took a vacay day to tell her about the situation ( she knew b4 we hired her tha tthis day may come)...and I wa a basket case that day ..crying as I told her about the work sitation and how I had to let her go....

Well, she call me yesterday and today while Im at work to kinda talk about how miserable she is that this is ending. (now I have confirmation that she really CARED about out girl)
we hash it out again about how I wish things were different, how she can use us for reference, how we dont want to loose touch with her, etc. just as I am hanging up she starts to cry.
so I am staring at my phone now that I hung up, and Im crying too

Big dope that I am I call her back to tell her I'm cryiong too and we sob it out a bit...etc...but end the convo on a 'keep your chin up' kinda talk.

I feel like a sh*(&& about this. hoestly would LOVE to hear she has work and will start immediatley..shes looking and trying t find a position, etc

I'm such a wimp....help me out ladies!

AWEEEEE PHYL !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats so touching that she cares about Julianne so much. I really know what thats like to get attached to a child from babysitting. Its a strong bond and I feel like I know what she's feeling...
Maybe you can re-think it and have her 2-3 days of the week and the daycare the other days. and ask the daycare about their scheduling as far as lastminute daycare.

Big hugs. do what your heart tells you. Maybe this woman coming into your life is a special sign from God. Dont let her go, she sounds like one of a kind.

BACIONI Sweetie !

awwww ANNA!

I wish I could do both but that would kill us financially. At this point its actually cheaper for full time daycare than full time nanny care....and there is an $$ issue we have with her which I cant go into here...nothing bad just uncomfortable.

anyways- I left off with her that we still like her to be in our lives.
Rob will tell her tonight that we;d like to know we can call her if we need a sitter and she isnt working that night....
I'm a SAP

hey can it be hormones too? I'm on the mini pill ...maybe this is a side effect?

Re: awwww ANNA!

Ok, the $ issue should definately be a factor. I didnt think of it as being more expensive. I figured you'd give her whatever % of the week she worked and the rest to daycare (make sense?). But youre right, it does come out to more..

Sounds like you made the best decision for your family. Im sure you'll still be in touch with her.

I think its the mommy-hormones that can make us cry at the drop of a hat, when it comes to our little ones...

Perhaps she can babysit for special occasions/weekends?

You and your DH have made a decision that is best for your family. And although you will miss this women and you like her, it doesn't mean that you should change your decision.
Nanny care is great for many people- but as you have stated there are some great reasons to put J in a center.
I would still call the Nanny when you need evening care though.
This is just one of many difficult decisions that you will have to make in J's life.

more..

yes, I have spoken to her that I want to keep the door open between us. If she feels like calling to see how J is doing or wants to stop by, she should fell free and if we need her to watch J at night or for a few hours on the weekend, and she is avail, I would like to be able to call her as well

ROb took a picture of her this am with the digital..she wanted a pic of julianne and her..so J can see who used to take care of her...and I gave her a picture frame as a going away present.
Plus we are giving her a small serverance. That was our agreement whenwe first spoke with her...

this is tough. I agree it is prob one of the many tough things I need to do when it comes to Julianne.

Im just wanting to get thru this day...and her first few days at daycare ...get them behind me ...

She will travel to atlantic beach, long beach, lido, point lookout, island park, oceanside

she does not have a car

she is in her 40s ...very perky. loves to interact with children. Last person that recommended her to me had an older child and said that Joanne loved to do crafts with her , read books, etc
