Ok, I need budget help if anyone is good at this....
So, JT and I are just about ready to make appoitments to book our vendors. We have budgeted 15,000 dollars for our vendors and some other things which are: florist, DJ, limo, Video, Photography, favors, invites and I can't think of what else. But anyway, I don't even know how to go about figuring out how much I want to spend on each thing. Someone help, please! Can someone give us a rough estimate of what you budgeted for these things. I know many factors come into play, but a ballpark would even help at this point. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Well, you can check out my budget vendor webpage if you need to keep your numbers low:
I would say typically though- Photos: $3000 Video: $2000 DJ: $1000 to $1500 Florist: Depends on what you want, $100 and up for Bride, $75 for other BMs Invites: $300 per 100 Limo: $600-$1000, depending Favors: $2-$5 each
I'm doing mine for much less than this, but these are typical prices for this area.

Ok, estimating on the high side, I keep coming up with just under 11,000 for the prices you girls gave. I know we will not spend 2000 on video, but I also know we will spend A LOT on flowers, so it all balances out. I think 15,000 is enough, but keep em coming, I just need to see how everyone broke down their budgets. I know I should sit down with JT and figure out what is most important to us, but really, it's the hall that is MOST important, and we are not paying for any of that. I guess next for me would be flowers then photo. Video is last on the list. ARGH! This is so overwhelming.

Supposedly, you take your entire budget and break it up like this, tweaking it here and there for overages and underages. 50% for Reception and Ceremony (food, beverage, cake, officant fee, ceremony fee, transportation) 10% for photography and videography ( but in NY it would be 10% for each!) 10% for music 5% for stationery 10% for flowers 10% for attire and 5% for extras like favors, bridal party gifts, etc. That is from the little planner in Martha Stewart, but I have seen that breakdown most every place.

Re: Ok, I need budget help if anyone is good at this....
for photo, I'd say $3-5K, or more if you want a high end photographer, or a large package. Duet, Patken, Proline, Cassarino will run you closer to $3k, Mark Kauffman, Imagine, Verdi, will run you closer to the $5k. Video, I guess can be anywhere from less than a thousand for in camera edit to about $3k? I'm not sure, I'm using my photo studio for video. Bands, I didn't look into bands, but I think you'll need $5-$8k? Dj (in place of band) I saw some for less than $700, and then there are those that are around $2k if you want a dj and Mc, light show etc... Flowers, depends on the flowers you want to use, high/low centerpieces, how many tables, how many bridesmaids, ten tables, I'd budget AT LEAST $1500. Invites, depends on how fancy you want to get. You can get inexpensive invites from party city for less than $200 for 100 invitations, then if you want letterpress, or some other fancy kind of invite you'll need to budget a couple thousand.
Just saw that you want a lot of flowers, I'd say double, maybe triple what I budgeted. Also, I don't know about limos, I haven't booked yet. Favors, we're spending about $3 a guest.

Re: Ok, I need budget help if anyone is good at this....
If you look in most bridal magazines they break it down by percentages, but since you aren't giving us the total budget I can't work it out for you that way. That's a pretty decent budget to work with so this is what I would budget with $15k for the other vendors:
I don't know if you are figuring in EVERYTHING besides the reception cost with this budget, if so let me know and I'd be happy to work that out for you too!! Some other things to consider (if this money is for this also):
Additional Ceremony expenses: throwing stuff (petals, bubbles, etc), unity candle and holder, ring pillow
Other Misc expenses: Tips, Pre-cana classes, marriage license, wedding night hotel room, rings, hair & makeup trials, hair & make up professionals, wedding party gifts, parents gifts, groom's gift, Groom's tux.
Those may seem like little things but they add up big time and will drastically change the numbers in the budget above!

OMG, you are SO right. I nearly FELL OVER when I saw our final budget which included every little detail. You don't think of things like that, you know, most of them are less than $100, but boy do they add up fast!

Re: Ok, I need budget help if anyone is good at this....
It's really hard to say, only b/c you have to first decide what is really important to you and JT and what you are willing to 'go lighter' on....
For instance, for us - photography was the most important thing (besides the actual venue) and I would have paid 10K out 15K if I had to....lol (we didn't evenhave a videographer b/c A.) it wasn't really on my 'important' list and B.) I spent more on photo's to get the type of photo's I wanted....
So first, start out by making a list of what is the most important thing and then go from there.....

I have a totally separate budget for these things that I am saving for on my own.Don't ask why, but the way I organize things is to have all the 'little' things with one budget and all the 'big' things with another. But you are so right about that. Thank goodness I know frlom these boards to not forget them!

Re: Ok, I need budget help if anyone is good at this....
Thanks Lori! It was EXTREMELY helpful! You're very organized! I have to say, I am very lucky because my mother and father are paying for a lot. They bought my dress, my tiara, my veil, they are paying for alterations and blah blah and they paid for the reception. I just have to cover EVERYTHING else. So that is a big help.
