Ok.. I was thinking that the end of April would be a

good time to have my BM's and I get together and go to the dress shop to try on the dress that I want for them to see if they like it, etc..

The thing is three of them are from NJ and the other two are from LI. Do I really need all of them to go at first? Can't I just bring one or two for now just to finalize the dress and get them ordered? I mean as long as i have the other's measurements and then order them all at once this should be fine right? The BM's from NJ want to take their dress home with them when the dresses come in and they want to have it fitted near them.. I think that should be ok too.
Then the other two I could either have them do the same or they could have their fittings at the place.

Sorry, just kinda stressing about this..thanks for letting me vent.

That's exactly what I did. I have 4 BM, 2 in NJ, 1 in CT and one here. So there was one BM who was REALLY nervous about the dress and really concerned about how she would look, so the BM that was MOST concerned with how she would look in a dress was the one I had go try them on with me. We narroed it down to 2, and then I had all of them come down and we all went and finalized it... It was a BIG source of stress for me, we JUST did this last week.

Only my sister (MOH) tried on the dress before we ordered. I invited one other BM, but she didn't want to go bc she was self-conscious about her size and not fitting in the sample gowns. I think that sometmie a large number of girls when shopping initially makes it more difficult... esp when you are going to smaller bridal stores.

Good luck!

You don't need to all go together. If you are worried about the other girls might not like a dress, then email them a picture of it.

You definitely don't need everyone with you the first time you look at dresses. In fact, it might make it more difficult. I went with my MOH and one bridesmaid. We narrowed it down to 3 dresses and took pics of both girls in the dresses to send to everyone. We selected one dress and then I had all the girls order them at the same time. The one girl that is out of state gave me her measurements and I ordered the dress for her. The bridal salon actually recommended that the girls go somewhere cheaper for alterations. I think as long as you are specific about certain things (add straps, take off straps, hem to the same length, etc) you should be fine!

Good idea! When I first went out to look, I only brought my MOH and had her picke out what she liked. It worked out great b/c all of the girls loved the dress!

So if I were to order the dresses for them, I would have to pay and then they should give me the money back? Or, would I just leave a deposit?

In the several experiences I've had with ordering bridesmaid dresses, you had to leave a deposit when ordering and then I think the final payment was due when the dress came in. I paid for my bridesmaid's dress in full (at her request) and she paid me back. I think it's just easier to pay in full so you don't have to worry about it later.
