What are people raised in a barn? My wedding is NOT your High school dance!
Our RSVP date is 3/27 and we still are waiting to hear from like 50-60 of the 120 invites we sent out! Many of which we think are NO's how hard is it to fill in your name and check a line and drop an ALREADY stamped envelop in the mail - we already have a few people who LOST the invite (one is a GM)
THEN WE HAVE AT LEAST 10-15 PEOPLE WHO WROTE ON THEIR CARDS Ms. ________ and 1 guest (possibly) OR they sent the card in for ONE then say to me OH I will let you know the week of the wedding IF I am bringing someone (MOH and a GM and a few guests) - These people are NOT waiting to find out if their FH or DH is working or something of that nature which I can TOTALLY understand - NOOOO these people DON'T have anyone and they just can't decide between these few strangers who they want to pick - NONE of which they have any interest in - AND MOH says to me Oh maybe I will ask this other person but I will ask my MOTHER about it and see what she says. I will send the card in this week but I might still bring someone These people KNOW that I AM NOT the Rsvp person - and my dad is really annoyed that we have like 10 - 15 who we DON'T know if they are bringing a date - I explained to them that we have to do place cards, table seatings, hand in numbers, know how many centerpieces we need etc!!!
(LIW's ladies this is NOT for you )

I totally understand what you're going through. I am still waiting to hear from about 40 people (response date is 3/25). Then I get email from 6 OOT relatives that they are all coming (only invited 3) since my wedding in NY is on their way to Italy. Nice huh?

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
Oh the horror stories of response cards. Why do we bother with them? We should just go back to expecting that people will send us a personal note. At least that saves postage and the cost of reception cards.
I can see why you are frustrated. Wow cant wait to get to that part of the planning (roll eyes)
Speaking of treating weddings as high school dances get this one... one of my BMs (18 years old) asked if me if I wanted her to do a dance routine with the other BMs like at her sweet 16! Very cute... but I was like ummmm no thanks. (BTW she is my FSIL)

The response cards are NOT even why I am really upset - it is the idea that you have KNOW about this wedding for how many months or YEARS ago and NOW you are trying to decide IF and WHO you want to bring and will let me know maybe the week of the wedding?
I have tried to explan that we NEED to know because of our numbers - for place cards (which need to get calligraphied) etc - and they just DON'T get it - it is like what is the big deal ok so put me as a possibly with a guest and then I will let you know

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
that is THE reason why we didn't invite people with guests if they were not in a serious relationship.
our rsvps are trickling in VERY slowly! we sent save the dates... so you should pretty much know whether you are coming or not by now!!! People are just so rude!

I also have some of the BP deciding on the same issue about bringing some random chick they just met. IMO they'd have a better time solo since they know everyone rather than babysitting their new girl.

Yeah, I hate having to invite with guest. My one friend was ticked off when she wasn't invited with guest to wedding. But it like adds so many unnecessary people you don't know.
I was just thinking I was annoyed when we were invited to wedding last month, and the invitation said FH's name and Guest. We are engaged, I don't think I need to be referred to as Guest anymore.

Ok I guess I should say I don't mind that they bring people that I don't know - we invited people with a date so that they would feel comfortable and have fun (many don't know anyone else) What bothered me I guess is that they are like well I have to figure out who I want to bring and will let you know when I make up my mind - these people have KNOWN us and KNEW that they were getting invited with a date when I asked them at Christmas and in Feb who they were bringing they were like OH it is WAY to early to invite someone How hard it is to pick a FRIEND - these people aren't bringing a 'date' person they are deciding between FRIENDS of theirs

I didn't do it.
I responded that myself and my FH would gladly attend, On time.
Christine can't be mad at me, not only because my response was on time, but also because I replied to her post.

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
People not responding have no idea. Their clueless, true. But, listen to this ladies...
My son is being married in July and his FW's mother is NOT doing RSVP cards. They are having an open invitation. However, all of our family and friends are from OOT, so I'm doing RSVP's for our side.
Their thoughts are 'we don't want anyone to commit. Plans change, so if they committ, and something else comes along, they can go or do both'..this is not a catered wedding, the mom is doing ALL the cooking for 600 people. Yes you read right, I didn't make an error in entering the numbers, 600.
There are no seating arrangements, first come first serve. YIKES!
I am doing RSVP's for our side, I'm also doing seating arrangements. I am not having 100 people travel 4 hours (we live inupstate NY), have the expense of travel, hotels, etc to 'find a seat'. I've done nothing but and all I get is 'her mom is doing it all'. OK so, who will have the last laugh? My OOT guests. Its very sad that this is my only son and I have not one bit of enthusiam inside me.

Isn't it infuriating! My reply date is 3/25 - 2 days from now and I am still waiting on 55 people!!!! Then I have someone tell me that they sent in the card as a yes, BUT he's really not sure if he's going to be able to come ARGH!!!!
