What are people raised in a barn? My wedding is NOT your High school dance!
Our RSVP date is 3/27 and we still are waiting to hear from like 50-60 of the 120 invites we sent out! Many of which we think are NO's how hard is it to fill in your name and check a line and drop an ALREADY stamped envelop in the mail - we already have a few people who LOST the invite (one is a GM)
THEN WE HAVE AT LEAST 10-15 PEOPLE WHO WROTE ON THEIR CARDS Ms. ________ and 1 guest (possibly) OR they sent the card in for ONE then say to me OH I will let you know the week of the wedding IF I am bringing someone (MOH and a GM and a few guests) - These people are NOT waiting to find out if their FH or DH is working or something of that nature which I can TOTALLY understand - NOOOO these people DON'T have anyone and they just can't decide between these few strangers who they want to pick - NONE of which they have any interest in - AND MOH says to me Oh maybe I will ask this other person but I will ask my MOTHER about it and see what she says. I will send the card in this week but I might still bring someone These people KNOW that I AM NOT the Rsvp person - and my dad is really annoyed that we have like 10 - 15 who we DON'T know if they are bringing a date - I explained to them that we have to do place cards, table seatings, hand in numbers, know how many centerpieces we need etc!!!
(LIW's ladies this is NOT for you )

People not responding have no idea. Their clueless, true. But, listen to this ladies...
My son is being married in July and his FW's mother is NOT doing RSVP cards. They are having an open invitation. However, all of our family and friends are from OOT, so I'm doing RSVP's for our side.
Their thoughts are 'we don't want anyone to commit. Plans change, so if they committ, and something else comes along, they can go or do both'..this is not a catered wedding, the mom is doing ALL the cooking for 600 people. Yes you read right, I didn't make an error in entering the numbers, 600.
There are no seating arrangements, first come first serve. YIKES!
I am doing RSVP's for our side, I'm also doing seating arrangements. I am not having 100 people travel 4 hours (we live inupstate NY), have the expense of travel, hotels, etc to 'find a seat'. I've done nothing but and all I get is 'her mom is doing it all'. OK so, who will have the last laugh? My OOT guests. Its very sad that this is my only son and I have not one bit of enthusiam inside me.
wow that is pretty serious, but you know your guests will be happy
and Christine, good luck to you!! sorry about these inconsiderate people!

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
Well you would think people would have the god given common sense to pick up the phone and say Oh I'm sorry I can't attend the wedding WHEN THEY GOT THE STD's. We only had one couple do that -
And we NOW have people telling us Oh we are going to be in europe at that time we booked it a year ago so we can't change it but we will take my PARENTS out to dinner to congrat THEM when they get back ummmm ok
We could have saved our invites AND some money by not sending these people wasted invites -had they simply picked up the phone and called first

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
Well Christine don't feel bad. We are less than 8 weeks away and my invites are still at the printer. So my guests will only have a small window to RSVP, I already feel the frustration

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
WOW that is horrible!!! - well think of it this way - people know when your wedding is - and IF they have less time they are less likely to just put it in a draw and forget to respond

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
LOL we will - BUT we want to wait until the response date first - they are almost all FH's side (and then a few of my parents friends) so that is kind of the issue since his mother can't seem to get a lot of things right - she told us friends of hers were coming to the shower when they didn't rsvp and they didn't show - and then she said others were coming and they didn't - I might make FH make the calls even though he doesn't know them

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
I had this same problem. I had my FIL calling his family on my RSVP date (it was his side of the family that was very slow in responding). I hate procrastination

Re: Ok ladies and gentleman HOW HARD IS THIS?
I would tell these idiots who can't find a date that the purpose of being invited with a guest is so that they can bring a SIGNIFICANT other - not any random person they find on the street! Tellt hem that you need to know by x date (give them 2 days or so). Then say you will assume that they are not bringing anyone at that point since their date would need sufficient notice anyway. Then tell them they cannot bring a date (or if they do - the date will nto be able to sit with them!!!)
ugh - I haven't gone through this yet. my mom insists her family and friends will not be like this - I disagree. Too many people are going through this. I know I am next
