Ok, new honeymoon idea...

Well, we are still thinking out what to do for the honeymoon.

I think the latest idea is to drive through new england up to quebec city, then over to montreal, then down to niagra, then the last day in syracuse ( a good friend from college is getting married there).

We will be able to visit BOTH our alma maters along the way, too!! yippee!

both QC and Montreal will be a few (3-4) days each, and the trip through new england will be about 5 days all together.

I think we are going to stop in Newport, then lower and upper vermont, then on to canada.

Does anyone have any ideas, great places they now about, good places to stay in any of these locations?
I would really LOVE some suggestions!!

A friend of mine did half her honeymoon in Quebec and LOVED it....she said it was so beautiful!

Get your hotel though Priceline! I got a 3 or 4 star hotel in Montreal for $45 a night - the Hilton Bonaventure! It'll save you so much money. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com for details and stratgies and to see what other people have gotten.

I went with FH to Montreal around Columbus Day weekend (which is pretty close to when you'd be going) and all I can say is that the foliage was breathtaking the whole way up from NYC. I think that trip sounds like a great idea!

Newport is AMAZING!!! But very touristy, so walkig is your best option through the town, but for sight seeing and the mansion tours, and the harbor, wow, I loved it!!! Are you going to stay at bed & breakfasts'?

Along my trip through New England we want to try to stay at some B&B's, but in Montreal and Quebec we are thinking of doing something a little more 'upscale' because the prices are so GREAT!

That sounds like a great idea. I would check out if it snows there then. Maybe you could have some pics taken in the chappel of each of your colleges.

the coldest it gets that time of year in any of the areas I picked is 'high of 53' which is not too bad. we don't mind a chill.

The chapel idea is great, my college campus is gorgeous in october, I can't wait to go back (its been about 6-7 years)

oh Newport is wonderful! I got engaged there this past August.. it's a beautiful town and the mansions are amazing!

maybe you could squeeze in a trip to block island. WE loved it there and it's where FI proposed.

The Loews Concorde in QC is great and has a great view of old QC and has a fabulous upscale buffet restaurant with delectable french food. I am sorry I don't remember the names offhand but there are some very nice and romantic B&Bs in Newport. If you do find the names of some of them tell me. I did look into it and do remember some of the nice ones.
