sorry michi- it's one of the perks of being a teacher... some people get big bonuses, fancy gifts, expense accounts. We get snow days!!!!!

Aww, Michi, if you could see my paycheck, then you'd be a lot happier that you have to go to work! The LEAST my school can give me is a snow day!

I have to whole heartedly agree with kdelace! We get nothing else so a snow day here and there is something I think we can excited or mad about depending on where you work. Theres a lot of other repetitive threads on here that I think are a lot more annoying than these to be honest.

im just saying one or two or 3 threads is fine but geez theres like 10 seperate threads.. keeping it all together makes it even easier if u think about it, so every1 can see whcih schools r open or closed...

hey and u guys get summers off! no complaints lol..altho money kinda suxxx. but i guess it evens out.. lmao

I wasnt sure I wanted to be a teacher, but the summers off was key LOL!!! Also the $$ really isnt that bad for me... Im very comfortable... The raises come so quickly as long as you take classes, which is required anyway... I plan on making over 100k when I retire... right now Im ~ 50. O.k. for me :)

What do you do?

I get neither summers off nor fancy bonuses and my salary is about half of what my teacher friends make.

I think I can complain.

You have every right to complain. Teachers work so hard. DH spent all weekend marking journals and mid term exams...plus he had to shovel snow on top of that. You all deserve a snow day.

I know that teachers work hard, but other professions do too. And teachers on LI make ridiculous amounts of money. My best friend is a teacher and with masters and in service credits, I think she makes 80K. I work in publishing and have been working the same amount of time as she has and I make 35K (yes, I will admit it to prove a point).

I didn't mean to say that only teachers are the hardworking people. I assumed you were one.

A lot of professions do work hard too. But teachers I feel are one of the hardest because without them educating us we wouldn't have all these other people working in different professions.
