Ok.. now Im really ticked at my family (VENT)

Am I NOT the bride? What the HELL is going on here?!!??!?

First its my brother with his Im not sure I can make it crud he's pulling on me. 14 months notice appartently isn't enough..(Still fighting this one)

Then Dad saying 'Its alright if none of us show up... as long as you're happy'.. HAPPY?!?!?! DUDE you're my father.. do NOT pull this on me!! You HAVE to come!! JEEZ! (he quickly changed tunes)

NOW my little sister my Junior Bridesmaid.. the girl my parents adobted when I was 15 and I basically raised.. the little sister I always wanted is now saying 'Do I *HAVE* to be in her wedding?'

Uhmm Oh.. My.. God.. that hurt!!
*Sigh*

I know I should be ok with this.. logically that's fine.. send me the money instead I'll spend it on favors or invitations.. forget ive already paid for your bo-k. It's cool.. evens out the party 1 MOH, 1 BM, 1 Best Man, 1 GM. All cool right?

So why do I feel like my family is Insane!!!!

I hear ya. I just vented the other day about my father. and have vented in the past about my sister not feeling the need to come for e-party and not liking the dresses I pick out.

just keep youtself happy and I am sure they will come around and realize how important the dayis to you

I honestly have no idea what the hell my family is thinking!

I know we grew up military and are prefectly happy with long distances between us.. family is in the heart not the map. We've always stayed in contact via phone every few weeks nothing insane like every week but that's just us. I've always been ok with that.

I NEVER realized they'd take that philosphy (sp) to the extent of my wedding!!!! My god!! This isn't just insane.. it's embarassing!! I mean I am the youngest daughter (my sis is adopted) of the youngest son in a Hispanic family. I am the ONLY unmarried female (out of 3) in my ENTIRE family.. this is SOOOOOOOOOO out of whack from our ethnic background as well as common sense.

Im shocked. I really don't get it. I tell you.. Im tempted to just cancel stuff and lose the deposits and forget this wedding crap all together.. who cares? It's bad enough I knew I'd have empty seats at the hall.. I never expected THIS!!!

If you want them to come let me know, i'll stick my mom on them. My sister was killed in a car accident- she can do the parental guilt like no one's business. They'll be there kissing your feet, tending to your every wish when she's done.

Dad says she's 13 and constantly PMSing.. mood swings and such. So he says...

Im worried my mom (stepmonster) may push her into being in the wedding now.. you know 'you said yes so you HAVE to' I don't want that. It shouldn't be a demand.. she should have wanted to be in the bridal party.

FH's bro and sis are in the bridal party but not real 'helpful'. As a matter of fact my BM (FSIL) doesnt seem to realize SHE's pays for her dress, not me! FBIL is just a blank stare kind of guy.. clueless.. It's like dressing up a doll. Give him clothes and tell him where to walk.. he'll be fine.

Ugh!

Amazing the drama that can occur 13 1/2 months away from a wedding!!!

Bleh and double bleh! They should be ashamed of their behavior, you should tell them how you feel and ask them to knock off the bullsh*t and treat you and your wedding with the love and respect you deserve.

As for the empty seats...fuggedaboudit! I'm sure there are plenty of LIWers who will make sure that if you need to meet your minimum, you'll be able to do so and will also make sure you have the best time despite the family drama (if that's the sort of thing you want...otherwise, well, there will be empty seats ).

As hurt by your family as you are, you deserve to have the kind of wedding you want!
Don't throw it all away, it's not worth it. You and your FH should celebrate your committment, that's what a wedding is for and don't lose sight of that. I know it's hard right now. Yeah, it's wonderful to celebrate it with family and friends, but plenty of people choose to elope and it's just as special b/c it's what they want.
Do your thing girl and don't let selfish and inconsiderate people bring you down. Your love and relationship is more important.

Ive told my father calmly, in tears and screaming that unless he's dead, he's expected to show. He will show. I trust him. The rest.. well dang it... what can I do? Is it crappy? Yeah.. annoying Oh yeah! Insanely stupid ..... Big Yeah on that one.. out of my hands completey.. Yup that too.

Awww, you're so sweet. I was totally NOT fishing for an invite, BTW. I've just seen others who haven't met their minimum invite people from here or other sites to help out (plus it means extra gifts ). But really, there are plenty of us out there that would go to any length to help each other out and make sure that no bride is unhappy on their wedding day!
