OK so I got a new job, but it is a little weird

I had a 3-day intensive training, at the end of which I was told I knew everything I needed to know. In the past 2 days I have gotten 15 e-mails of stuff that I am evidently responsible for, but was never trained on. The problem is, the only person who knew my position was laid off & is no longer with the company, so I am left to figure all this $h!t out on my own. Then I find out everyone else with my level position in different departments had 1 month of training????

I am so stressed, and I don't know what to do. It took me soooooo long to find a job & now I am worried that I will not have this one for long. I have alreasy been yelled at twice by my supervisor today, who btw, has no idea what I am supposed to be doing

You were yelled at by your supervisor???

That's not right! I would definitely speak to him/her about the situation. It's not your fault that you weren't trained properly. How could they expect anyone to dive right in with only 3 days with a trainer?

If your supervisor is not receptive, you should talk to his/her supervisor. I'm sorry you're having a tough time

I'm sure it will get easier, but I think that in the meantime you need some guidance!!!

Thanks guys....I think I will have to talk to someone......when I got back from lunch (after I posted this) there was a pretty nasty 'memo' on my desk about what I got yelled about earlier.

I am so sorry to hear you are having such a rough beginning at your new job

This happened at my current job. I walked in here and it was maddness. Because I came with my boss, the firm assumed 'i knew everything' and trained me on general office procedures and the like for only 1 day when the normal training for assistants was 2 weeks!!! Meanwhile I was working for people here also, being sent a million requests on things I have no idea about due to the lack of training, and was getting reprimanded constantly. It was so stressful and frustrating , to put it midly. It finally came to an end when I told my boss I would not be back unless he demanded I get adequate training. That put an end to it!

As difficult as it is, I think you definitely need to have a chat with a supervisor and let them know that you haven't been adequately trained in order to complete these tasks.

I wish you good luck and hope things get a bit better

I know you are right & I have asked for further training, but no one who is still with the company has ever worked in my position, so they don't know how

I wills till try to talk to him & if nothign comes about I will see if there are other internal openings.

They should not be yelling at you for their incompatiency!!!! Do you have an HR department? I would talk to someone and explain that you want to do a great job, but they need to assist you in knowing what that requires.
