Can we do a black tie on a Sunday? Do you think Sunday's are percieved as less formal?

I do think Sundays are less formal. Generally they are during the day (I think many people resent Sunday nights because of work Monday mornings). Can you do the first Saturday in Nov? The weather would be best then...

I would base this on your guests. If many of them travel for Thanksgiving you may get more 'no's' then you would have otherwise. If you want some 'no's' then the Saturday is perfect
Also if you really want a formal black tie affair I would go with a Saturday

i picked 11-11 because I am clearly biased I so however much prefer either a friday night or a saturday night, sundays are difficult, and i think especially during the thanksgiving week because many people go away.

My wedding will be on a sunday night and it will not be any less formal. I have friends that have been to Black tie Sunday night weddings at the garden city hotel.

Re: Ok So we all agreed Nov.
We went to a wedding locally Sat. after Thanksgiving and it was fine. I don't think I would travel out of town for a wedding that weekend unless it was a family member or extremely close friend. I wouldn't do the airport that weekend - I have in the past and it is awful. We thought about that weekend, but we had lots of OOT guests invited and I didn't want to ask them to travel that weekend, or risk having them say no for that reason.
If most of your guests are local. either weekend would work

I would go with the Saturday after Thanksgiving, especially if you don't have a lot of out of towners. I always prefer a Saturday wedding to a Sunday.

Re: Ok So we all agreed Nov.
sunday is less formal - go with the sat after thanksgiving - plus everyone will already be in a festive party mood, and not have work the next day
