Hi, I think 11-11 would be a better date, only because it is veterans day, so a lot of people will have off on that monday. Sunday weddings are less expensive than saturday nights too. And you don't know who is going away for thanksgiving.

Also, if veterans day is observed on monday 11-12, than since a lot of people will already either have off that day or use it as a floating holiday, you can have the whole black tie thing without having to worry about it being like a normal sunday.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I am having a Black Tie affair on Sunday and they are very common, especially for Jewish weddings. So, I would not worry about the formality. However, I would think twice about the Sat after Thanksgiving because of the cost for your guests. It is VERY expensive to travel that weekend!

Good luck!

We had a wedding that weekend one year and b/c of the hustle and bustle of the holiday, people were drained. JMHO

do you mean the reception will be 8 hours? that's really long.

Well here's what we want:

First 90 min.: Champagne Welcome
Hour: Ceremony (we're incorporating traditions from 2 faiths so it's going to be long)
next 90 min. Cocktail period
Next 4 hours Reception
Last hour Port & fine cheeses

Do you think that's to much?

We wanted somthing tryly elegant, Do you think it would be better to cut the Port & Cheese, NA d bring the CH to 60min insread of 90?

Can we do a black tie on a Sunday? Do you think Sunday's are percieved as less formal?

My wedding will be on a sunday night and it will not be any less formal. I have friends that have been to Black tie Sunday night weddings at the garden city hotel.

Thanks so much for the heads up?

We've been to Fridays (which for some reason are less formal(the one's we've been to) and Sat.

I read some where that the least expensive Saturday night to get married is the Saturday after thanksgiving

I would do the Saturday, I don't have for veterns day- I think just banks and schools are closed
