Ok this may sound silly,..

But when do you have to book out a block of rooms in a hotel? I have a ton of OOT guests and I'm not sure when I should start looking for rates and what not. Any suggestions?

We did our's a few months before. Depending what hotel you use though they may not be able to open the room block for guests until a certain number of days before the date.

Book soon & shop around for quotes. I went to one hotel that originally quoted me $159. I went to another hotel that quoted me $129 and the first hotel matched the price.

Well I'm having my wedding in Sea Cliff at the Sans Souci. The hotels that are really close like the glen cove mansion and roslyn claremont are REALLY expensive. I started looking into the Hilton Garden Inn and Holiday Inn in Westbury

The sooner the better. I would not wait too much longer.

I did mine a year in advance.

Start now! call the sales dept or group sales dept on the hotel... and they will give you all the info you need!

Ugh I just feel so overwhelmed. My FH is in the military and I'm trying to plan this from across the country in California. Everyone in my family has seen my reception hall except for me, including my husband because he is in Virginia for training and got to fly home for the weekend.

I did mine about 9 months before and I am sooo glad I did. A few months before the wedding, I was told the hotel was booked for that weekend and other brides couldn't create a block there.

I totally feel ya, I'm i the military and am doing everything from my deployed location while FH is back at home across the country in WA. But its totally doable to plan from afar! Good luck!

same... they said we can start a room block 54 weeks in advance and that is exactly when we did it LOL. Also, you lock in whatever rate they give at that time. If you want longer, the rate may slowly start to go up.

I think I did it 6 months before? I would start calling now and ask about the rate and get info. See if you can do it now. It doesn't hurt to get it done and out of the way.

Call around. A lot of places offer free shuttles or free room for the bride and groom if you have a certain amount blocked, so ask about that. It's nice to have the shuttle included.

We had that at Courtyard Marriott in Farmingdale. I would call and ask around now to get the best deal. Ours was 110.

That is where we have our room block. How did you and your guests like the hotel? Also, did you guys get the suite for the night (I booked it for me and FH the night of)

We got married September 2010 and we blocked off rooms in November 2010. The summer fills up quickly because of other weddings so you might want to start looking into it now.

make sure you double check that those blocked off rooms are at the LOWEST rate possible. a few girls have had issues with hotels not given blocked rooms a deal, and people would book separate and get a lower price.

As for everything else... The sooner the better!

Re: Ok this may sound silly,..

How many rooms did you block out? Did you just roughly estimate? Most of my FH family is out of towners and my family is pretty local except for a select few. I was think 12-15? Does that sound right. We are inviting 150 ppl all together.
