Okay, clueless here about reception seating

Okay, clueless here about reception seating

Does it matter which side of the room the brides family goes on and the grooms family?

If each family sits on the same side of the room that bride and groom do, what side is the bride on and what side is the groom on?

The weddings I've been to, the bride sits on the left (if you're looking at them) and her family goes on that side, then the groom sits on right, etc. At my wedding though, we're sitting on one side of the dance floor and putting all our family behind us and all our friends on the other side of the dance floor (closer to the bar)

In the outline sandcastle gave me for the seating chart it has the brides family on the right and the grooms family on the left if you are facing them.

FH and I are mixing everyone up. Even at the wedding ceremony we're not going to separate the families.

We're mixing everyone up too. My side is significantly larger than FH's and I'm going to have to put my parents on opposite sides anyway.

Our families get along really well so I'm thinking of maybe being a bit different and mixing everyone so that more people meet

Brides side is odd table numbers
Grooms side is even table numbers

If your hall gives you a layout, that should help you figure it all out
