Okay Gals...I need Your Advice...FYI, Long Vent...

Okay Gals...I need Your Advice...FYI, Long Vent...

Okay...so in the midst of my happiness of being chosen BOTW, I'm having some issues at home.

My brother and I just had a HUGE blow out. On Friday, it was FH's bday and my brother had gotten 4 tickets to today's METS game--he was going to give 2 tix to FH and the other two were going to my brother's GF and her dad. Anyhow, he wound up NOT giving them to FH and giving him money instead. NOW also, FH already was going to the game with his godson, his godsons dad and brother. His godsons dad actually bought the tix for FH as a gift, so keep this in mind.

So today, my brother's GF and him get into a fight and she tells him that she's NOT going to the game. So he texts FH and says, 'Can I have the money back that I gave you and you take these 4 tickets so I don't lose out on ALL of the money?' Now, this wouldn't be a problem IMO, but since FH was going with other people who PAID for 4 other tix, I thought it was rude of my brother to ask for this to be done. FH was going to do it because he does not want to argue with my brother BUT I flat out refused and I marched downstairs to my brother and said that he was being REALLY disrespectful and rude and putting FH in an uncomfortable position. He then said that he wasn't and that it was 'fuc*in ridiculous and that it was unfair he was going to lose out on so much money' and that's when I LOST IT. I told him that it was not FH's fault and that why should other people lose out on money for problems that he has?? And then he just went off on me and told me to get the eff out of his face, etc.

Anyway, now I feel like absolutely dog poo because my mom is really upset and crying (she is super sensitive) and my brother is cussing and yelling up a storm and FH told me that I should have just let him take the tix and avoid a fight.

Was I wrong ladies? What should I do now? Should I apologize?

Hmmm... let it settle for a while, first of all. Nothing great is ever accomplished in the heat of an argument. I think I would have FH tell your brother that he's already spent the money, sorry, dude. It's not right that he asked for a gift back. You JUST DON'T DO THAT! It's the age-old principle from when we were kids. You can't ask for a gift back. Your bro will just have to figure out something else. I'm sure he has some friends he could sell them to? You could help him call around once he cools off. GOOD LUCK!

The game is at 1pm, so he def won't be able to sell them, but I probably should have just let FH handle it and not interfere because now FH is upset with me.

Thanks though for listening

i think your brother is ridiculous and selfish. you did NOTHING wrong in this case. thats like indian giving. 'Here's a birthday gift... but no wait, i want that back and you can have tickets to a game that you already have tickets to'... thats freakin retarded! tell your brother to call one of his friends and go to the game with him instead of her. Or better yet, tell his girlfriend to suck it up because the tickets were probably expensive.

... i'm gonna post this anyway, even though its really mean. Stupid people are pissing me off today. You and your FH did absolutely nothing wrong in this situation ,and im sorry for **** talkin your brother, but seriously, come on now.

I'm so sorry for you. Maybe you should let FH handle it but it is too late for that now. I guess for next time you know. But I do think it was rude of your brother to do that. Who gives money and then asks for it back.

Thank you and don't worry, I don't take offense AT ALL. In fact, stupid people annoy ME all the time!!

And thank you everyone--I can never just sit back and let unjust things happen--I ALWAYS have to stand my ground, no matter with WHO or WHAT.

I'm glad I am not alone.

i think you are 100% correct. I would have been pissed off if my brothers did that. First FH wsnt good enough to get the tickets for his bday but when ur bro was stuck with them he tried to take his original gift back to give him the tickets he wasnt giving him in the first place?

Your brother is being very selfish...he should be pissed at his GF for not using the tixx, not at you!

brothers can be so annoying

Seriously and my brother is a chronic brat, so I just had enough of it!!! I'm not going to spend my life giving into people all the time, especially him!!

I just feel so bad because my mom is so upset--crying and stuff. But I apologized to her and gave her lots of hugs and told her i loved her...I didn't want her to feel like I was purposely making her upset.

Penny, I would have done what you did... I agree that its not FH's problem at all so why shoudl he have to fix it!?!?

On the other hand... Sometimes its best to just but out of other people's problems and just let them deal with it... yes its your brother & FH BUT if FH wante dyou to step in he would have said it....

Now, as I said that to you... I knwo that if it were me, I would have, like I said done what you did, but I have def have a hatd time sitting back and letting people handle their own issues- I always feel like I have to help the situation by sticking up for those I care about... Sometimes its just not 'our ' problem i guess

Maybe to keep peace... appologize and just learn from this time

Im sorry your upset though ... but this to shall pass

ok you probobly shouldnt have flipped the way you did, even though I understand why and I probobly would have done the same thing. But from experiance it makes things worse and doesnt solve anything. Maybe you could try talking to your brother and tell him why you were soo upset. Then your mom wouldnt be so upset

You are right--I am the SAME way Jen! I guess we are more alike than we know!!!

Well, I will apologize, but I'm not quite ready to yet. I'm still a little angry, so I will wait till we both cool down.

Sorry it turned out the way that it did, but I don't think you were wrong. Sometimes when you've had to deal with these types of aggravating situations in the past, the smallest argument can trigger a blowout. It wasn't right for your brother to ask for the money back, so don't go blaming yourself. This will all blow over, if not today, give it a few days. Hope you are feeling better

awww hun I'm soo sorry this is happening.....No No you were not wrong at all!!!

Your brother's request is kind of odd to ask for a gift back....who does that????

I mean if he lucked out and spent $$$ then...tough it happens...But don't feel bad you did the right thing....I would of done the same...

It'll be ok

Thanks all!!!!

I actually did not apologize to my brother yet and in all honesty, I don't think I am going to. I think he is completely in the wrong and it's totally offensive of him to put FH in that kind of position.

I am the same way in this type of situation. My broth will do something that will effect FH and I'll speak up and say something, and then my bro is flipping out on me. My bro thinks that he can do things like this b/c FH is his 'brother'...whatever. He still shouldn't treat him like crap. Just annoys me....Hope all gets cleared up.

She summed it up to exactly what I was going to say. Are you and your bro okay now?

tell your bro not to be an indian giver!

sounds harsh but its not you or your FH fault that he got in a fight with his gf.. this is life.. things happen.. your family is alot like mine.. once something happens everyone has to be involved

relax it will pass.. let your FH enjoy the game with his family. let your bro cool down and dont let too much time pass before you talk to him :)

I'm glad to know my family isn't the only one that's like that..LOL!!!

Well, I spoke to him last night, but nothing crazy. He asked to borrow my computer and I let him..LOL. That was his way of saying sorry and my way of saying forgiven..LOL!!!
