okay.. i need advice on this one..

okay.. i need advice on this one..

i have 6 bridesmaids.. i started out with 4 then it got to 5 and now i'm at six.. (i'm including my maid of honor on this one..)

my wedding is 2/16 and so i need to order dresses fairly soon. i had planned on ordering by end of july..

here's the problem.. and i could care less bout the dress and wedding.. more so about my friend and bridesmaid.. she is sick. just got very very ill and is currently in the hospital. she found out she has a particular syndrome that is going to mke her incredibly weak for quite some time..

as for ordering the dresses.. should I wait till the middle of august ? I am praying that she is better by then so she can be measured? it'll still give me 5 months, for them to come in..or should i just go ahead and measure a size larger than her street clothing size so they can take it in? i know.. (believing on God for this) that she will be better and able to walk down the aisle on my wedding day.. so i'm not going to remove her from my bridal party.. but i dont' want to hold off the ordering of dresses if it is going to cause a problem...

please don't think me insensitive.. i have been praying non stop for her to get better and i know prayer works. when her mom called me to tell me what happened she was in intensive care.. she is now in stable condition. so i KNOW she's going to get better.. but i also need to make some decisions by the time i come back from my vaacation..

edited to fix spelling errors.. loads of them..

Let me start by saying I'm soooo sorry about your friend. My prayers are with her, you, and her family too!!

You are by no means AT ALL being insensitive, so please don't think that!! IMO I would go order the dresses and do like you said...just order one size bigger. And if anything, I would also mention to the bridal store the situation and see what they suggest too. Maybe they'll be able to work something out where you can order one now and if by chance the size is way off when the time comes, they can order a new one and put a rush on it. But I think you're safe with what you had mentioned.

I don't think it's wrong at all!! Good luck and I hope I helped some what!!

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. You are not being insenitive. Its nice that you want to make sure she has her dress the same time has everyone else.

I would even do 2 sizes bigger. Doesnt the bridemaids dresses like the bridal dresses run really small. I know when I was in a wedding I went up 2 sizes from my regular clothing size.

Do you know if another girl in your BP is roughly the same size/body type? If so, you could use her to get a sense of how the dresses you want to order will run (true to size, small, etc). Then you can order accordingly.

I hope your friend gets better soon

even if it's a little big, they should be able to take it in a month before the wedding. good luck with your friend.

I am very sorry for your friend... My thoughts & prayers are with you and her family!!!!

For the dresses - the store i'm ordering from told me that most dresses take 4 months to come in. 3 if you are lucky - but the average is 3.5 to 4 months. I think you will be okay on time if you wait a little longer..

This is where you need to enlist the aid of a very patient seamstress. The problem is, you don't know what she's going to weigh at your wedding. Find a seamstress who will work with her, but will wait until late in the game to make any final alterations.
