So lately I've been doubting my dress selection. I'm concerned about the mobility of my arms because of the cap sleeves. Honestly, and I finally can admit it that I was torn between two, and it was my mom and the sales person that were really pushing for the one I ordered, but now I'm wondering if the other one I liked was really, 'the one'. I didn't have 'the one' moment that I was hoping for.
Well, now I'm stressing over the bridesmaid gowns. I'm going with the seperates from David's Bridal because it will be easy for all of my OOT BM's to go and pick things out and stuff. I went with my sister and one BM and had them try the sea mist, apple red, and wood violet. The sea mist color I totally love, but it didn't look so good on my pale friend who had no makeup on. The wood violet was better, but the apple red looked the best. Since we're getting married in June, I figured red wasn't the best choice. My mom said that red is not for a summer wedding. I tossed that idea and I figured the violet would be the choice. When I was in NY, I went with my FSIL and other BM, and after trying on the gowns (only the sea mist and wood violet) I decided that I loved the Sea Mist and that it probably didn't look so great on my other friend because she had no make up on and she was kind of washed out. So the decision was Sea Mist. Yea! So, my sister and mom went to David's yesterday (I'm back in CA) and my sister/MOH wants to really stand out. She wants to do some kind of long sash/ cumberbund that goes around her waist and drapes down in back to the floor. I don't see why she's so into this, but whatever at this point. She doesn't know what she wants, and I feel she should pick first being the MOH and whatever. NOW I get a call from my mom saying that the red is nice, and its not too deep and the seperates are all summery because they're pretty much all strapless and stuff. So now I'm at square one when I thought I had it figured out. I really do like the red, but now I'm kind of stuck on the sea mist since its more summery. I don't know what to do. I'm so freakin stressed. I have plenty of time so I shouldn't be worrying about it, but I just want it done. Any advise for me?!

Re: Okay, I'm stressin'! (kind of long--sorry!)
My take:
Red is definitely the most flattering of the colors you mention for all skin types (provided that you have no red heads).
Is it a day or a night wedding? If it's a day, I see the concern. If it's night, don't worry about it.
I think you can also get away with the red depending on the shade and material. A nice flowy chiffon would be more 'summery' than other materials.
My first choice was red, but dark red, bordeaux. My date approaches fall and the reception time goes into the evening. I wound up nixing the red because it clashed with the carpet (don't ask, my father thought we were crazy and had a fit of laughter when we told him).
My girls will be in brown.
As so many say, 'it's your day, do what you want!'

Re: Okay, I'm stressin'! (kind of long--sorry!)
The ceremony is at 2:30 and the reception starts at 7:00. I do think that the red is the most flattering of the colors too, but I just feel like a summer wedding (or as my mom said its not 'technically summer' since the wedding is June 18th, but thats pretty much summer to me!) should be light, pastel colors. I would have no second thoughts about the red if it were fall or winter, or even early spring. Ugh, I need more opinions please!! Please be honest, I need that right now! Thanks in advance!

Re: Okay, I'm stressin'! (kind of long--sorry!)
so it wouldn't look funny for a June wedding? The sea mist is the color I wanted before even going with some of the girls, but the red did look best. I keep flip flopping!! I think I'm stressing because I feel that since I'm so far away, I can't be 'hands on' for all of this, and its kind of like I see a little here and there but mostly people are trying thngs and i'm just getting their feedback afterwards. It was 6 months after our reception that my FH and I even saw the place in person. Thats our fault for being in CA and for deciding to book it sight unseen. (We had seen tons of pix from friends of the family's weddings and heard amazing things, so it was ok.) I guess I just wish I wasn't so rushed on deciding things, even though I have SO much time. I feel like since I may not be home again until Dec (and hopefully we're moving back to NY at that time) we should take care of stuff now because Dec. will be too late. Thanks again for your help ladies.
More opinions are welcome!

I'm a redhead, and I used to be called casper.
I wore apple red separates from David's as a bridesmaid last June, and I looked great, thank you very much.
In fact, I wore the top out with a black skirt last summer to a club, and I have never been complimented by so many people.
Oh, and I wore a red dress to two proms.
Go for it!!!!!

PrincessRose, I have a girlfriend who's a redhead and she wears red and it looks great. I don't have any redheads in my BP, but I wouldn't let that be a factor. My concern with the sea mist is that with some pale girls it makes them look washed out and it doesn't brighten them up.
I think I'm going to wait until my FH comes back from Taiwan (hes on business, but he gets back in 5 days, yea!) and see what he thinks. He's not into this type of stuff, but since its his wedding too, i'm going to see if the likes the red or sea mist better. Thats the only thing I can come up with because I just can't decide!

Hi Nan, I dont know if this helps you, but I struggled with Red for an April wedding. I thought I should have pastels too. But some of my BM's were pale, and the light colors were not the best. Anyway, I went for it. It was stunning. Red is being worn at weddings now at all times of year. Go with your gut, if that is what you liked originally then get the red. Same goes for your gown. It is your wedding and you know when you LOVE your gown. Make sure that you order for your girls and yourself, what you LOVED! This day is all about you. I hope this helps. Love, Christy PS- I got MANY compliments on the girls red gowns at and after the wedding, as well as my red and pink bo-ks too, so I stressed for nothing!

Thanks girls.
Christy, I had talked to Dee about your wedding and she said she loved wearing the red. Its an apple red, so its a little different than yours. She won't have two dresses that are the same color!

My red headed friends say 'no' to red, that is where I get that, didn't mean to offend...
