Okay Ladies....help me decide on my honeymoon!!

Okay Ladies....help me decide on my honeymoon!!

We have narrowed it down to 2 places - the RIU Palace in Riviera Maya Mexico and Tamarjin in Aruba.

Originally we wanted to go to Aruba mostly because of the beautiful weather. But now we are really interested in Mexico - we can see the Mayan Ruins and thats a plus too.

We can stay in Aruba for 7 nights or Mexico for 8 or 9 nights for around the same price.

We have checked out Trip Advisor and taken that into consideration - we still cant decide!

Any experiences/advice!?!?!

i may be biased since i've never been to aruba.. but i've been to mexico a few times and loved it each and every time. the ruins are fun to see, and snorkling there is amazing.

I agree! Unless your stay in Aruba is all-inclusive it gets very expensive.

We went to the Riviera Maya in Mexico and loved it! We stayed at Royal Hideaway which is the only hotel in the the Riviera Maya listed by 'The Leading Hotels of the World' and the only all inclusive in the world listed! Its amazing! There are seven restaurants, a spa, multiple pools and unbelievable service.

We did take two excurisions: one to Tulum for 2 hours, then to Xel-Ha (a natural inlet where you can snorkel, jump off rocks, etc) and a trip to snorkel out at a reef. While both excursions were fun, we found ourselves missing the resort b/c it was so wonderful! We will go back and when we do, we'll stay there the whole time!

I voted for Mexico mainly because the longer the HM, the better!

ARUBA!!! I have been to both and I can not say enough good things about Aruba, its people, its weather, beaches, everything!!

A couple years ago I stayed at the Royal Hideaway in Riveria Maya. It was awesome. The RIU was nearby and looked very nice.

I vote for Mexico!

I've been to both Aruba and Mexico (several times). While I enjoyed Aruba for the 5 days we were there, it did get a bit boring at times. If you want a longer honeymoon, with a lot to do, then go to Mexico. If all you want to do is be on the beach, I say go Aruba. (there is nice breeze on the beach in Aruba, which prevents the sand from getting hot, which I liked)

if you want to go to Aruba I would pick Divi over Tamarijn (my clients stayed at Divi this past July, she said that she wasnt too impressed with Tamarijn which is next door)

Go to Mexico. You'll have a lot of fun. Here's where we are staying for our honeymoon in the Casita swimup suite....

We love both countries - DH & I had this same decision to make for our honeymoon.

We ended up choosing Mexico (Royal Hideaway in Playacar) for a few reasons -
Aruba has Gambling - we both like to gamble and I didn't want us using any wedding $ for that :)
Longer plane ride to Aruba
Many cruise ships in town that week
DH and I got to extend our honeymoon by staying in Cancun two nights

Good luck! You'll have a great time in either place!!
