Re: Okay ladies, its all done.....invitationvault.com
The invites look very cute and different. Here are my comments:
For the price you're charging, you should detail more about your printing process (Letterpress, engraved, themographed, offset, etc...) and the small details like envelopes, etc.. . I think a bride who spends $1K for invites wants to know about that stuff.
Also, charging $20 for a sample is extremely high and would immediately turn me off (but thats just me). I saw you mentioned that samples are customized and thats why they cost so much. What I think you need to do, is make a batch of 'samples' just to be able to show your customers the quality in person for a more reasonable price. You have to build into your business plan an automatic loss on samples or your going to lose a great deal of the clientele you could win over if you had provided samples for less than cost. Then if they want a customized sample, $20 is reasonable.
Lastly (and this is just a personal preference from someone who DID spend a lot of invite) - I think you need to make a few more modern/elegant designs. I think most of the invites you have listed are completely adorable but are more geared toward a shower or engagement party invitation which most people don't spend as much on.

Re: Okay ladies, its all done.....invitationvault.com
Thank you for your advice Stef. I will take your comments under advisement. I am in the process of making some new invites that I haven't had a chance to put up on the site because I've been so busy with the site itself and all of the chaos of the the shower and fittings and stuff. I do have some more formal invitations that will be available, but I am trying to focus on more unique designs that aren't really available anywhere else. I'm trying to find styles that are truly different, rather than copying whats already out there in all of those catalogs. Also, while I will be offering different types of printing options, the real attraction to these invites will be the papers and the fact that 100's of colors and types are offered so that the invite you choose can match the color and theme of your wedding. Either way, this is just the beginning and I plan to focus most of my energies on creating new designs now that the web site is finished. Also, I would like to think of it as a cooperative design process since there really is no limit to what can be created.Again, thanks for the feedback. I take it very seriously and am trying to come up with a way to make samples easier and improve all aspects of the site. In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas for their own invitations where I can help or perhaps create new styles, I would appreciate it.

None of them, I'm having trouble deciding what I want and plan on making a new design. I will post it when I do.

I am having problems getting into the site it is saying that either it changed names or the site is not longer available. I am clicking on the link and it keeps giving me the above error page.

Re: Okay ladies, its all done.....invitationvault.com
Good Luck with your new venture!!!I like many of your invites, and like Stef think that some are geared towards e-partys and showers. You might want to make a section for those as well.
I too think $20 is a bit high for a sample and would not pay that. I would pay $20 for a proof, but not just to see if I like an invite and quality.
I would also like to see envelopes on your site. Those are very unique and getting more popular. So perhaps you can include information on what an invitation set contains and show samples of those also- such as RSVP cards, reception and map cards. That way someone knows what the entire set looks like. You might also want to offer laser envelope printing or get together with a calligrapher. That way brides don't need to go anyway else for their invite needs.
