Okay so FMIL says............

That she'll GIVE methe garter that she used.garter blah blah blah. Im thinking to myself nah, I'll get my own but didnt have the heart to say that..........after saying she'll GIVE me it she continues to say Oh but I need it back so that Erin can use it whenever she gets married...........

So, um....your not GIVING it to me your letting me BORROW it

But I want to buy my own garter and not use hers....Would it be rude if I tell her I already bought one (even though I didnt). Im just afraid if she askes why didnt I tell her before...Which I doubt she will but who knows.......

You could say your MOH bought you one, and you feel bad turning her down, and you'd know she would understand bc she's such an understanding person, lol

Or tell her you're afraid to ruin it and would hate to have anything happen to it for her daughter's special day

tough call cause you don't want to insult her. I would do what you want, it is your wedding. But be gentle about it. Not to be perverted (maybe a little) that's the same garter that her husband (FI) took off. EWWW! Sorry, I needed an immature moment. In all seriousness, it sounds like she had good intention. Just tell her that you have one!

EEk I had the same thought!! I think a garter is sort of a personal thing to pass around the family!! Too close too the, you know...

thats true lol

I think you should tell her that ur MOH already brought you when even tho she didnt. I had a similiar experience...my FSIL wanted to sing instead of having music while I walked down the aisle ...sorry but H ELL NO!!! nobody will be singing at my wedding, especially while I walk down the aisle...but how do you break it to someone that you dont want to do something they want to do...good thing she forgot about it
