Re: Okay, so what about couples that have 'Open' marriage?

I think this came from my post about my friends, but if it didn't I'll just put it out there again.

My two friends (husband and wife, but I'm closer with the wife) have been married for over 10 years and have two children. They have an open marriage, can have sex with others as long as it's not a relationship with someone else. And, they really shouldn't talk about it, and they have to be safe,.

That's it, it works for them, and they are happy. He has sex with other women, she has sex with other men, and they have sex with each other.

I couldn't be in something like that, but they're fine with it.

I have a friend that has this type of arangement and I really don't think that knowingly, I could welcome him into my bed when I know he has been with some one else! I do agree with T in regards to self esteem. I did date two guys at the same time once and it was really hard. I wound up dumping both of them at the same time! Too much work!

I have never known anyone who was involved in this, but what peoplpe do in their own homes in private between consenting adults is none of my business.

I agree with Wendy. It's not something I would ever do, but to each his own.

I feel the same as Wendy.
I don't think it's my place to judge what other people do in their own marriages. If it works for them it works for them. Some people don't associate monogamy with marriage. To each their own.

I feel it destroys the sanctity of marriage. This completely goes against pretty much everything recited in the vows.
'I promise to be true to you, until I find someone else to hump' is just not part of it!!

Not my thing, but to each their own. I do wonder about the children in these marriages...but it's not my business or place to judge.
