Okay ladies i am thinking of having a snowball wedding- I will explain It would mean that my girls(bms) would be wearing ivory like me. and i would be doing all red roses. different shades of red. i think this would look outstanding in pictures. My mom freaked she said who is going to be the bride???? okay now i reall dont think my dress is going to look like my bm's... well nontheless she does not get my idea.
I want to be different i have five yes five of my close friends getting married with in a year and a half of each other.
I want your honest opinions but just think creativly please......

For my wedding, I would not want to be the same as the maids... I don't think its looks so nice JMO

I agree with your mom on this one. I think that one of the things that make a bride stands out is the white dress especially in pictures if you decide not to wear your veil all night. Someone else on LIW did the all white thing. I'll FM you if I remember the name.

I've always frankly thought it's kind of a strange concept that all the guys are in black (and hello, nobody worries about not knowing who the groom is!), !!
Ditto. I want my FH to wear a white or ivory suit because of this.

I SAY GO FOR IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA TO DO. IT MAY BE A LITTLE TO MUCH THOUGHT WIHT YOU AND ALL YOUR BM'S WEARING IVORY. WHAT ABOUT YOU IN A TRIDITIONAL WHITE DRESS AND THE GIRLS IN IVORY AND KEEP EVERYTHING ELSE THEY SAME. I think that will be fine as long as their dresses are very simple compared to yours. IMO you need to stand out!

I like the idea but I'm not sure how it would photograph... particularly if you ahve any b/w which is so popular these days. I agree with a few previous posts maybe a bit of color on the dress considering it is so close to V-Day.
As the last one of my friendsand family to get married I understand your desire to be different.

great idea....but what about putting them in silver or ice blue...and making your theme Ice/Snow....there are some great votive candle holders that look like ice cubes

I personally would not want my BMs in Ivory, but if you like it -- go for it!! I don't think it will look bad, and it will be different and memorable.
However, I also ask that you consider ice blue or ice pink or very light silver... very, very light pastels photograph almost white sometimes so you'll get the look you are going for without the BMs matching you.
Also, if you want to be really different, consider putting the bms in Ivory and YOU in a different color... red, rum pink, gold, silver, something like that.

Just some history for you guys that 'back in the day' a bride had 'bridesmaids' always to be dressed in white so evil, greed and bad luck wouldn't find the bride. It was meant to confuse spirits. The tradition to have them stemmed from that. Now we just have them as 'maids'!
I like what the history of this i will tell this one to my mother. LOL
Acutally the bride and the BM's all dressed the same so the evil spirits wouldn't be able to tell who was the bride and so not give her bad luck. White didn't come into it until Queen Victoria wore it for her wedding and everyone started copying her.

actually i really dont like white i look so pale in white. my FH calls me milky LOL I really want to wear like a gold or rum pink however i would wear ivory too. but i really want my girls to wear the same color as me. I know ladies i am just different.
