Okay....I have an off-center window behind my headboard and there is nothing I can do about it. So, I was thinking of hanging curtains behind the bed, from one side of the headboard to the other to give the effect of one large, centered window. (Do you know what I mean?) I bought a wrought iron curtain rod to match our furniture...now I just need to decide on a fabric color. I also have to get something pretty thick (not sheer) so that the light from the window doesn't come through and ruin the purpose. The room has 2 other windows, and is very bright. (This pic was taken at night.)
Our bedding set is cream and red/berry and we are going to paint the walls cream soon. The floors are (oak) hardwood. So my question is: WHAT COLOR SHOULD THE CURTAIN BE?? Also, what should I put on the other windows? The same color? Or something else? FYI: they do sell the matching tab top drapes for my bedding set, but I don't want to be 'too' coordinated! I am totally 'window treatment impaired', so ANY help or pictures are greatly appreciated. Thanks... I am looking forward to your suggestions!

I would do the curtains in the red/berry color. Especially if you're going to paint the walls cream.

I would go to a fabric store, one that has really nice fabrics, and see if they have something that has red/berry in it with some other colors too (maybe a light green?). I think your idea with the off-center curtains would be a good optical illusion to make the window look centered.

I would go with the red/berry behind your bed and maybe use the matching tab tops for the other two windows. I would keep the treatments different. This way your 'windows' will look like windows and your 'headboared backdrop' will be just that.
BTW - I have the same problem in my bedroom except its with 2 off center windows. I am still deciding if I want to do a folding screen that will cover one window and then the drapery treatment you are thinking of or just drape the entire wall. I have only been there a year.

I know the perfect thing.. I would do something like this....
But I would set it higher and spread the curtains out so that it covers the window and makes the window look centered..

Marcella - that is very similar to what I wanted to do. John was dead set against it! For some reason anything over or around the bed is out as far as he is concerned. Figures -the one decorating thing he has an opinion on.
