Re: ok...What can you tell me about Kings Park???
I live on the border of Kings Park and Smithtown - and I'm getting married in Kings Park - I'm a little biased but it has a great school district, its rather close to beaches, the town itself is run down compared to Northport and Huntington, but it is still really cute. It takes about 1hour and 15 minutes to get to manhattan every day - that commute kind of stinks. It is close to 25 A 25 and the Sagtikos Pkwy. Houses start about 350K - but there are co ops on Main street around 220K and new condos a bit over 400K I think
I Love KP!!!!!

Re: ok...What can you tell me about Kings Park???
I have lived in Kings Park my entire life. I love this town so much. Only now when I am looking to buy a house in other towns do I realize how good it is here. Like vhollo01 said, Kings Park has many nearby beaches and the Sunken Meadow Parkway will take you to the Northern State or LIE in less than 5 minutes. There is Sunken Meadow State park where anyone can go but there are also many beaches for Smithtown residents only. They have recently made a bike/walking trail on the grounds of the old psycho center. My FH and I go rollerblading there all the time. It is really nice. The schools are great. The high school has block scheduling so the classes are set up more like college classes (every other day and longer periods). One thing to keep in mind is Kings Park is a small town and everyone knows eachother.., I am not kidding There are a few bad areas (like every thown has). A few blocks near the train station I would stay away from. And there are also some busy roads I wouldn't buy on...there is a road that has deadly accidents every year and often end up with cars in the houses. I can't believe that houses on this road are selling for almost $400K. If you decide to look into Kings Park feel free to ask me any more questions. If you are wondering about a specific street or area don't hesitate to ask. I love this town...if I couls afford it I would stay here forever

we were just in Kings Park yesterday - my husband grew up in Smithtown/Nesconset, so he know the area, and wanted to do a little fishing It's great for beig close to beaches, and looks like an adorable place to live. There were a few not-so-great areas...but all in all, i think it's lovely

Re: ok...What can you tell me about Kings Park???
I live in KP now, and my dad lives here too.
It's a great town for the following reasons, IMO:
good schools safe involved community beaches boating
not so great:
no bookstore few restaurant choices (although there are many a short drive away) commute is just long enough to do, and just long enough to make you crazy a bit too conservative for my taste (but I'm a city transplant, and you know we are crazy liberals )
AND....the #1 reason KP stinks, like all other decent LI towns.....IT's EXPENSIVE!!

I have lived in kp my whole life and I do miss it now that we have moved. It has such a small town atmosphere and yes many people know each other esp if you are involved with the church or schools. It doesnt have many fast food places but thats whats great about it- I think becuase it different atmostphere. I am so sad that we had to leave( it was just too expensive)

A good friend of mine just bought a brand new house in Kings Park for $650000, lot and land. By the time they finished building, he was offered $750000 to sell it on the market. It's a beautiful area. He is right off the Sakgitos (sp) Parkway.
