Old Orchard Beach Maine

Has anyone ever been here? We were thinking of going for a few days in August. I was wondering if anyone on here has ever been there. Where did you stay? Would you recommend it? Thanks!!

Been there a couple of times..We own a summer house in Maine...It is a beautiful place...Old Orchard Beach is like Coney Island but a lot cleaner!!! There are tons of hotels on the strip...I can't remember the name of the hotels we have stayed in...IF you really want to see Maine, try to go to Camden, Bar Harbor or Boothbay Harbor...That is most of a Maine atmosphere...Just be prepared for the drive though! I live in Maine. I grew up in Portland which is about a half hour north of OOB. I think the place is kind of cheesy but tourists LOVE it. Like kissy27 mentioned, there are so many other beautiful places on the coast. Bar Harbor is one of my favorite towns but I must foreworn you that it is an extra 3 hour drive from OOB.

Inland Maine is as equally beautiful but when most people think of Maine they think of the coast.

I have been a few times. FH has a summer home in Maine. Its fun, sort of like wildwood, NJ. There are a bunch of small motels all around, but I am sorry I can't help you with accomodations.
If you make it up there, Portland is a great city to visit. The oldport area has great shops and resturants.

Thanks everyone! In April we went to my friend's wedding in Maine, and we loved it so much up there we said we have to come back. We thought about Bar Harbor, but we didn't want to drive that far, so we're thinking about something in Southern Maine, so Old Orchard Beach came up. Plus we go to Montauk every summer, so we figured we'd try something different. Thanks for the advice!
