Re: OMG
yep yep. I spent about $110 on hair trials and $100 on makeup trials and NONE of it applies to the day of.. so you figure All together $220 for trials $275 day of Total of $495
I HATE the way they screw us like this.

Re: OMG
Yup, it's a ripoff especially for someone like me who's getting a pretty simple half-up half-down hairstyle.

Re: OMG
thats high! I spent 45, but then I didnt even use her. I used someone else who I didnt even have a trial with because i just couldnt afford another trial. She did a great job!

Re: OMG
I'm doing my trial the same day as my engagment party so it doesn't seem like a waste of money. Nevermind I thought you said makeup trial.

Re: OMG
Just don't pay it. I am still looking too but I am going to Marie Katz for a makeup trial and it is $25 - I think that's more than fair. Other people are free but I think anything over $40 is ridiculous. Their day of prices are high enough to cover the trial cost.
It also kills me to pay $80 for hair or makeup for my BM who are SO low key. They want bluch, mascara and simple blow outs (no updos)
I plan to negotiate the prices. There are so many people out there that I bet you can find someone who will negotiate their price.
My mom is so annoyed - she is probably just going to her regular salon to get her hair blown out. They will only charge $30 or so and her hair is a short bob so there isn't too much that anyone can do to it. Seems wrong to charge her $80 ++ because it's a wedding.

Re: OMG
If you find people who charge a reasonable amount for a trial - they are probbly more willing to negotiate the day of fee (esp if more than one of you)
If they charge too much - they are just getting me. If they will negotiate - I'll pay for my BM too and they will make that much more money
After they do the trial and invest some time in you - I bet they are more willing to negotiate.

It's only once in your life that you do all this and the girls have to make money - not much that you can do, ya know...

Re: OMG
I haven't gotten to this yet but I've been thinking about getting my trials done on days where I have somewhere to go, like a wedding, party, etc. That way at least it won't feel like so much of a waste.
